Grill removal..easy?

I am looking for any tips to removing the grill..haynes manual has nothing..is it as simple as see screw..unscrew..repeat? I am getting it painted next week and he wants as much as i can take off..off....and will i be "legal" to drive without a grill fo some miles??

As far as I know, as long as you have a license plate and something that resembles a bumper, you are legal around here. I am not sure on the grille part, looks to me like a screw off/on affair...

What year truck?

On the 89-90, the grill comes off in 4 parts. Headlight buckets(the marker light bulbs screw out of the back of the lens), then the crosshair piece, and finally the metal surround. They're all held in with Philips-head screws, and there's no real trick to it. Just don't lose any of them.

On the newer ones that are chromed plastic, I have no idea. I've never worked on one...

if its a newer plastic one there like 6 screws under hood on core support, then pull turn signals our theres one on each side there and a couple in center in the louvers an bottom.
