i got an insurance payout. it wasnt nearly enough to pay for the damage but i took it to keep the lawyers out of it. and btw, this is what happens when well trained walmart associates try to change the oil on a truck...thats what being lazy gets me.

the person that was changing my oil started my truck while it was still in reverse and it took off on him. kinda funny when its not your vehicle (and i have even laughed a couple times.)

Dude. I would have gotten a lawyer involved. Walmart would have paid handsomely.

What are your plans now?

the problem with getting into a lawsuit with a large company such as walmart, is they have unlimited resources for things like lawyers. they would have worked their way around it somewhere.

at any rate, when it gets back i will be leveling the front suspension on it to clear some larger tires. get the body work done and painted. i will be using it in the mountains as my wood hauler/hunting truck. wont abuse it though. its got to stay in good shape once i fix it. luckily i moved back to the west coast so i wont have the trouble of finding the body parts for it :D

Not much to sue over if he disabled his clutch switch, allowing it to be started in gear. (What I assume happened.)

Even worse if Walmart decided to twist the knife and charge him for a door and other damages because of it.

I've got everything disabled on my truck, I don't let anyone near it without a long talk about how it'll kill them if they stop paying attention for even one second.

so...its been a while, but i finally started on the body/mechanicals. here are some progress pics.

i started with repairing the threads on my shifter locating pins. this has worked perfect, so if anyone has issues with stripped out holes, this may be a good solution.'

Image

drilling out the holes, i epoxied some t-nuts into the holes. it was cold outside, so using a heat gun, i kept the epoxy warm to aid in the curing process.

Image

once the epoxy had hardened, i modified a couple button head allen screws to replicate the original pins.

Image

then the dust boot went on with an exhaust clamp from an old turbo to hold the whole assembly together for strength.

Image

then the whole assembly went back together.
