Roof Skin Compatibility

Postby matthewh » Mon Jan 02, 2017 6:52 pm

After some work on the dually, I found i really just need the outer skin, roughly 20" back from the drip edge to fix the section smashed earlier this year.
Question is other than a club cab roof, what other trucks can I steal a roof section from? Have access to std cabs, a couple ramchargers, and even a rotted out crew.

I believe the ram charger is the same.

Ramcharger, crew cab, and early reg cabs are the same I believe. Newer 81 (?) reg cabs are different. It will be noticeably different on the std cabs. They drop off in the front a lot quicker.

Yeah, sounds like the 73-79 std cabs are the same, or at least close to it to use. Got tomorrow off, so hoping to hit the local yards and see if I can find a corner nice enough. Kinda a crap time.of ywar to be looking for decent sheet metal, especially with the 12" of snow we got last night, and another 6-10 by Saturday. Otherwise I'm gonna have to find something and have it shipped, or just cut the damaged section out, hammer it back and reweld it.
