Postby 1STGENFARMBOY » Thu May 19, 2011 7:45 pm

All right try not to flam me to bad...this is soooo nubee, My friend just picked up a 4bt on a power unit, i'm shure it's an industrial of some sort, it's supposed to be 110 hp it has a p-pump/ve lookin combo, as you can tell i know nothing about this kind of 4b, it also has a vacum pump but not a power steering pump, (of corse) can he mount a 6b ps pump on the back of the vacum pump.

he was askin me if he could put it in a c10 chevy, i said shure then he was askin about what he needs to hook up an A518 or a getrag, and i really don't know the answers.

can someone in a nutshell tell me if the bell housings, flex plate, starter, and everything els thats needed for the swap work off of a 6b.

Thanks for helpin me, this dud has a crap load of sweet 1st gen stuff that i mite be able to scavange if i can help him.

The 4BT is basically a 6BT with the center 2 cylinders removed. Since it is a B Series Cummins all accessories interchange except a few things that require parts to be swapped in sets. Example: VE to P Pump injection systems. A generator usually has a fixed speed injection pump governor. If it has a VE pump it can be modified or swapped to a road service automotive type pump. Some have the Bosch type A pump which have been used for road service after modification. Check out the "sticky" threads over in the 4btswaps.com website which pretty well cover your questions in greater depth.

it has the same afc housing as a ve but with a little 4 piston injection pump between
the afc and the timming cover, never seen nothin like it before, but then again i'm

Sounds like it has a P-pump on it. All the injection lines are in a row? as opposed to in a circle like ours? P-pump!

The inline pumps were Bosch A, Bosch P3000, and in some automotive applications the P7100. Most common inline industrial application was the "A" pump.

Sorry Dar, didn't mean to insult your intelligence! ;) She's getting there, should have the head back monday or tuesday.

We all know how special you are, and training wheels aren't something to brag about. Ask my 5 YO.
