What Do You Think of My 1st Gen?

Postby Johnnyiv » Thu Oct 06, 2011 12:35 pm

So this is my baby and project in progress. My "Project 1st Gen" which has been underway since I bought the thing with 103,000 miles on it. Im the second owner even. Yes the catch is its got a 318 but soon it will have the 12 valve in it that was intended. Im trying to go with a look no one else has. My walls are covered with nothing but 1st gens, I'm obsessed!:drool2:

Well in November around thanksgiving I was hit by a bus doing about 70 in the dark. An El Paso Limosouine bus(greyhound pretty much). He decided headlights werent necessary at night. Insurance came through thank God!

I decided that with the front bumper I would just use a piece of 16 gauge steel and weld it up and do some body work over the seam. Everyone on here has a big piece of c-channel bolted or welded on if not the stock bumper so I thought I'd be a little different.

These are Dirty Max cablights from Recon. After looking at plenty of cablights I just didnt like the huge cablights that came on our 1st gens so I picked these. Not because I like duramax, but because they were the only ones with a square look to it, we all know there is nothing round to our trucks, and Dodge cablights are like tear drop shaped. I figured the chevy fin antenna was the only antenna that looked good with those lights so I mounted it as well, but to make it not dirtymax, I mounted the antenna on the passenger side instead of the drivers side! I also ditched the sealed beam headlights and found some ultra bright ones I recommend.

I ordered a rollpan from Grant Kustoms and could be more happy, thats the top one. the one I ordered from Summit didnt fit. Still need a hide away hitch but I need lots of things too.

I removed the flairs and trim all around to go with a cleaner look, and finally I went with Flat White, and decided the 2011 tailgate emblem would make a sweet badge. So after 5 months I have my wheels back and soon I'll have that 12 in it.

Its cool to see how an all white grill looks. I am planning to paint my entire crew cab conversion white (including the grill). I basically am going to make a "Sport" edition crew. Nice lookin' truck!

Yes exactly! see my friends own 07 Laramies that they put the sports grille and bumper on and I just love the whole one color look, it looks clean to me! Like the new Rams with the painted grille and matching bumper. So I bought a new grille and just had it painted white too with the inserts. I've seen a few all black but not a fan of it. Thank you by the way!

I kinda like the small tires on it, it would be even cooler if they were short fat slicks.

anyways i too like the all white

I want to do 20's with a low pro tire I think but the problem is finding a rim that looks good that is 5 on 5.5 for this thing! and I have found alot of rims but the other problem I run into is the front hub...I need a rim that allows the front hubs to go through, a hole at least 3 and a quarter to 3 and 5/8ths around. They are automatic locking hubs but I still have this as a problem. I really like the Black Hosses but not set on those either.

I must say thanks for the link. I've ordered them for a grand total of 22.50$ shipping and part.

No problem guys...Its always nice when we help each other out for these old monsters, cause Im telling you finding parts is a pain in my *ss! that parts geek is a good website, the only trouble I had with them was ordering a new grille, it said it was in stock, I get my shipment and there is no grille! I called about it and turns out they were out of stock...so when ordering just double check on items like that. The grille I found on ebay...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE-PI ... 43a999fd51
The headlight bezels, front marker lights from parts geek...http://www.partsgeek.com/ymm/1993/dodge/w150.html
and the headlights I got from Amazon but I cant find the link so you'll just have to search for them, and the roll pan from grant kustoms...http://grantkustoms.com/catalog/product ... b9938186e4
