The Blue Goose

Postby 88Centurion » Tue Oct 23, 2012 5:36 pm

Ok guys here she is. Got alot of ideas going through my head right now but ill put some of it out there and get your opinions and suggestions. 92 W150 Has 318 and a 518 with a d60 rear not sure what gear yet. The trans wont shift past second and the motor smokes a lil so dont know of ill get any thing back out of that or not. Bought a engine and 727 out of a 89. Engine has aronud 300000 on it but it runs great and came with the complete wiring harness inside and out. Pump rebuilt not to long ago and had a head gasket put on at some point. Trans was supposed to have only 10000 miles on it. Still trying to figure out exactly what to do. Want to have a dd that gets good fuel mileage but still have plenty of power to play.

If your going yo keep the 727 you are going to need 3.00 or higher to run highway speeds. You sure its a 60 under there?

Yeah its a 60 some one some where along the way put it in. Thought about a 47rh but really want it to shift on its own and not have to run the over drive and converter lock on switches. Dont know how difficult that would be. Will the 518 behind that gasser bolt to a cummins or is it a diff bell housing. I'd be satisfied with that i think if it would work.

No its a different bellhousing. I wonder if that 518 has lockup though. If so i believe you may be able to convert a diesel 518 into lockup with some other changes. Someone smarter then me will have to answer though. You can put pressure switches on the 47rh to make it shift on its own though.

I figured it was different and i'm not sure on that drove it home in second. I think i may be able to put my hands on a 47rh so that may be the best way to go instead of trying to come back and do it later.

Thats kinda what im thinking. I think i know where there is a wrecked 94 that i might could buy for cheap. Trans is shot and is missing rear end but would be a good start i think.

Picked that up from a hunter. Had carb rebuilt new plugs new water pump and she runs like a champ.. Gonna try to get more than one of the brakes working then see what i can get out of it. One front brake and wore out shocks makes for quite the interesting ride.

Could you run a 47re without it being full manual and not alot of head ache trying to get it to work right. Think i found a good deal on a whole truck with one in it.

The re is all electric. If you ran that engine and complete wiring harness it wouldn't be that bad.
