Well, didn't get much done on the crew tonight. Was working on the 460 again and talked to my "adopted" brother on the phone for a while. It was his birthday. :) But, I did get my frame templates cut out tonight. :D May need a bit of trimming, but pretty much there. The sucky part was, BOTH tanks on the torch ran out! Had to swap them both. Wasn't much in the them to begin with. Didn't even get both sides of the 1st frame rail I cut even half done before they petered out. But, at least we had full ones to put in. :)

Huh!
That sounds like 2 weekends ago!
Ran out of propane (Yep, I have "Gilbert" in me, too! ) on Thursday, grabbed a new grill bottle on Friday, then ran out of oxygen on Saturday afternoon!
Ticked me off!

I got even, though, don't think I didn't! :D

Um, NO. I don't talk to him anymore. He burnt that bridge good. Gave him enough chances. The one I DID talk to, though, is my best friend. I say "adopted", because I lived with him and his family when I went to tech school. They've all adopted me, too. :D

My clutch came today, for the crewcab!!!! 8) Woohoo! :D Got a SBC 1947-O for it. Should be more than capable for what tweaking I'll do with the engine. ;) Got it off of ebay, too. Came with Amsoil tranny fluid too. :) Had a SBC Con-O in the 92 as well. Really liked that one. :)

Made some progress on the donor motor last night. :) Got the timing case cover off and checked the KDP. Glad I did! Was about 1/2 way out! Drove it back in and peened the hole. Got the case bolts all tightened up and put in a new crank seal. Was amazed the truck didn't leak a LOT more than it did. 3 of the lower cover bolts weren't even finger tight.

Water pump is in. Still have the tappet cover gasket and oil pan gasket to replace yet and put in the rear main once it is off the engine stand. Need to swap the injectors yet as well. At least I'm going in the right direction. :)

I can't imagine why anything was loose on that motor. Glad to hear that you are making good progress.

Considering a lot of the harware on a 12v is only "torqued" to 18ft/lbs anyhow, I'm surprised when ANYTHING stays tight on these things!

Didn't get anything done today. :( Felt like hell most of the day. Glad fieldwork is pretty much done. Severe sleep deprivation sucks! The power going out off and on today hasn't helped any either.

But, tappet cover gasket is now done, and most of the fuel system is back together. Swap the sticks and the rest will be reassembled. :)
