Flex plate may be cracked. My FRT drops 4-500 rpms when the converter locks, so I'd say the converter is shot for sure.

I hate how if you don't click on something youtube just goes and starts playing the next video.

And yet another reason i dont buy vehicles with an auto. I am of the opinion they run on magic. Once yiu open them up the magic falls out and they are never right again! Seriously tho, the only thing i hate more than driving an automatic is working on them. Man pedal for life!!

I miss a "built" auto. I can't stand a stock 4 speed Chrysler or Ford behind even a stock engine. They suck!

I absolutely hate the 47RE in my white truck. That being said, it shifts firm and has worked great for over 30k miles so far since the rebuild, that I did.
I just don't like the frickin' electronic crap in it. ;)

I agree with the dislike of electronics on a a mechanical engine. Hence why anything I put a 47 or 48re is getting a manual valve body. Heck if it were possible I'd run run a clutch instead of a torque converter, so I didn't have to deal with lockup, and if it is possible then I'd just want to see how before doing it

They call that a Danco. Not a fan of valve body tuning, eh? Lol

Neat. I'll have to look into one for The Roo Hunter possibly. Or this dually I keep thinking about.

And nope. I very much prefer my trans to do what I want when I want it rather than having a stupid mind of its own

Back in the 60s drag racers would put a clutch in front of a torqflite trans to get a higher stall speed before they really started with high stall converters. It either worked or exploded.

I've seen two of such setups in my life....neither were in working order.

I called ptc today.....needless to say I'm not impressed by what I was told. I asked about steel staters and stater blade pitch. I asked about lowering the stall speed more than typical every day drivers require.

All I received were a bunch of huh,um,I never heard of that, how do you know this? "Oh send it in and we'll inspect it tighten it up for 200$". Nope.

I'd buy parts from them, but not a converter.

Pete that's performance torque converters of muscle shoals Alabama. I've bought from them before, just didn't have the specific questions to ask....to see if I'm getting ru rued by buy their product.

Andy DPC is on the list tomorrow.

For schits and giggles I ran it home tonight from the shop and when I got home I threw it in park and floored the go pad. Nothing blew up,and that noise wasn't there.

I did not hear the noise that time either.

I don't have the stones to run something up 4k rpm, valve train work or not.
