Ok....just for schits and giggles I've decided to pull the trans from the 2001 24v truck and rob the converter. Against my own judgement I'm going to see what's up with the flywheel and converter in the 82. I feel there's something up in the pump with the number 4 line vibrating like it is but......what have I got to loose fooling with a used unknown converter. Only things I can think of is time and fluid.
It would be sweet if it was the issue but I'm not holding my breath.

Hopefully that's the issue.

We'll definitely find out.
No luck on another billit front converter being in it but it is at least a dayco reman.

Looks as if there were problems starting in there as well

Is that a crack in the second pic or something I'm not seeing?

Looks like wear on the bolt heads to me. Sure seems like the converter is some degree of ballooned to me. I had micro-fretting (if there is such a thing) on the flex plate when my converter swelled up.

I see it now how they are a bit shiny on the heads.

Flywheel cracks, and the rust leaching outwardly. I don't think things were as tight as they should've been. Whatever the case it doesn't matter to that truck anymore  it's nothing but parts now.
My plans are to throw this converter and the new flex plate in the 82 in the next few days and drive it. Hopefully I'll get the results I need/want.

Well.....it wasn't a cracked flywheel,no signs of it being cracked anyhow. Hopefully we'll see if the converter shuts it up.

Gotta get that thing sent off too

No dice

To the land of abandoned projects it goes until money and patience return. In the meantime I'll be fiddling with removing the 24valve from its current home and fitting it with the ve case/gear/pump and resealing it. :?

Idk Eric. As soon as I get the others in my hand I'm going to pull the 250k set from the 24v motor and send them. Baby steps right now,as I have to watch the coin at the moment. I have to plan this all out to make sure I dont over spend places and leave little for others. I wish like hell money wasn't an object to worry over. Maybe then I could sling it and have something that wouldn't tear up.

Really I'm just pissed off that the 12v didn't last longer than it has....in this truck.

I found out what was happening as well......that converter was swelling and pushing on the crank. There is a bunch of end play at the balancer that wasn't there when I installed the engine.
