Well I made a new valve cover...cover.... what in the crap do you call that thing anyhow

I cut and polished a piece of aluminum plate and now I'm trying to get my brothers wife to make me some vinyl stickers to put on it,then clear over them. I've asked for a big bow tie and some block letters (CUMMINS) to go over the entire thing.

Pics Monday :)

I don't hate it. I'm just not comfortable with it. Kinda like the 1st time you take a fat chick home from the bar, it takes a little getting used to.

Right Levi? ;)

PROGRESS! :D

Striped the front clip off the ,and started snatching wires off of it from the tbi system I put in it....yuckie poo nasty gas stuff
Image
I still have to get rid of the trans and exhaust.

I have been finishing up the assembly of the Cummins.....poped the injectors and reshimed them to 265bar,they were at 220bar. Installed the Mack rack plug and finished up bolting up the rest of the odds and ends. Mounted the trans and installed the torque converter bolts.
Image
It is staged for install and as soon as I figure out my mounts it going in 8)

I'll post up some ideas to bounce off you guys for my mounts. I'm thinking on using the Chevy clam shell units only in a poly mount construction. I believe it could hold up to the Cummins if they can under a big block, tho the bb is 200lbs lighter.

Nope, first time I did it was like the 50th time I did it. It's always just felt so right.

Something a BBC doesn't have is torque. Consider that in your engine mount building.

Well.....apparently I'm a liar :D I went ahead and built my mounts the way I wanted. Well really I should say "mount".....only got one cut and fit like I wanted, took 2hrs to do that :?
This motor is fitting like crap to,it rubs everywhere.....floorboard,firewall,a/c box etc....

I'll be buying hokey pucks to make a 1"body lift with just so I can get this big A tans bell to go up so I can get the angle right on my driveshaft. Drama

Took some pics this morning of the mount I made. I believe it'll be ok. I didn't really think my mig welder was up to the task of penetrating 3/8th plate steel good enough so I went back to the old stick machine. The welds are rough but I'll grind them down and they'll be pretty after paint.

Apparently this cabs trans tunnel is tiny compared to the ton and 4x4 trucks. I've got to get the rear of the motor up and to do that I have to get the trans some room.
Image
Image
The motor has a lot of fall so the cab has to come up or the floor board does. I'm leaning toward floor board because its cut out of the other cab.

I'm so excited just to get started on this I could dance

I had to do a1" lift to clear everything in that crew I had and it used the dodge engine crossmember.

Yeah that's what I figured :? I'd like to get away without doing that tho. I don't know what I'm doing just yet.

If you modify the tunnel and firewall you won't have to.

Andy that's the thing.....there is no tunnel in the other cab, previous owner of it cut it out to put it in another cab. He did that instead of modifying the firewall of another cab for AC  . The other cab I'll be using was a manual cab so it should have had a tall hump where this one has a small. I wanted this to be a cut and splice advent....just not that much. Oh well  easiest thing will be to graft the floorboad and make the body lift. That's what will happen :thumright:

Oh yeah.....I talked to my local starter and alt rebuilder and he said that there was a self exciting regulator that bolts to the dodge ALTs to make it a stand alone unit......I'm pursuing that ;)

Personally after running the 1" lift I wish we would have made our own trans tunnel. I hated how it looked after even that small of a lift. I like not being able to see the frame.
