Keeping the boost below 10psi, he got nearly 55mpg on a 100 mile trip. On the dyno, made 699.9xhp.

Hope that helps.

Twins and IIRC head work and a cam. The 12v always tries to be efficient no matter what. The owner generally tries to decrease the efficiency ASAP

Since that was was in some DP article I would assume it was an absolute best case scenario.

Probably involved a lot of downhill coasting and whatnot, probably down a mountain or something. If 55mpg was even possible I'm sure there's be a few more people closer than 1/2 way there in comparison.

From CompD. If you have an account, here is the thread, http://competitiondiesel.com/forums/sho ... hp?t=43915 If not, I will quote Jeff:

This is hard to believe I know, but I went to macon to the mall filled up
drove around 65 on the flats used no more than 2 or 3 psi going up hills
so it would fall back to 60 62 or so. got back to town filled up till it justabout ran out on the ground 105 miles on the speedo took 1.9 gallons
you have got to keep in mind 321 gears 22inch tires with .62% overdrive
it is basicly idling which burns about a gallon an hour which is exactly
what we used! It is cool to have the option to kill a street car or get
stupid fuel economy! Just depends on your mood for the day, I usually
dont get but 15 or so

Twins, 3.21 rear gearing, stock headbolts, 60mph he is under 1500rpms.

That's cool as an Eskimos butt, I'd be tickled schitless to get 25 or so 8) I guess I should just put it all together and see what happens.

WTH....

I guess I'm going to have to start reading this part of the forum more often, seeing as my good name is getting drug through the mud and all. :yuck:
Levi's girlfriend must have left him again or at least be out of town....that's the only time he actually types his fantasies about me. Normally he just daydreams to himself. :?

Back on topic, I don't buy the 55mpg bs, but it sells magazines. Before twins and big injectors, just maxed stock stuff I got 24.93 mpg on a trip up to Wheeling WV and back. 8)

Also, I wouldn't change it over either.

I would call BS too but they did have another person later confirm the same route, 52mpg. I guess the route is hilly from what the people who lived down there say.

Do-able but expensive, I really don't see my old truck looking that good.....or getting that kind of mileage.......
