I looked for my thread and couldn't find it. I screwed my floor hump down so I could remove it easy and never have. My cuts are a lot straighter than Toms too. ;)

Pete, I thought about doing the same, my old 78 RamCharger had that removable center hump. I kept that one piece for years and finally went to scrap. I am just afraid that if I screw the hump down, that it's going to rust out again somehow...

I bought another 150lbs of black slag blasting media, that stuff works pretty good...so good that I discovered that there are two holes, about 1/8" diameter, one is the start of the heel hole and the other is 6" to the rear of it. Not sure what I am goin to do about it, probably weld in some pieces, plate it up. I got plenty of semi-straight sheet metal left from the old body panels. I cleaned up the blasted area and threw down a light coat of primer so that it wouldn't rust with the rain we are getting right now...still need to blast a few more spots, scuff the rest of the underside, and prime, paint and undercoat.

Pete's a funny guy. I thought about making it removable but then I'd have to pull the seats and rug. plus if you build the tranny right the first time you shouldn't have to take it out right Pete? I welded mine top and bottom to hopefully not allow moisture in to rot it. I haven't had any problems but it also gets parked all winter.

I would like to have mine welded in, top and bottom, seal it all up. Unfortunately, any truck of mine sees the roads in the winter :(

Just funny looking Tom! And you know what they say, 7th times the charm!

Ike, you could just put some tiger hair bondo on it. Most of that stuff is waterproof too.
When I did mine, I painted the edges real good then screwed the floor in with a fat bead of silicone caulk. I then flipped the cab on it's back and undercoated the whole bottom, coating it real good all along that seam.
I had the buckets in mine, but I still would have to pull the floor mat out to get the hump out. I bet it wouldn't come out anyways, that silicone sticks like a SOB!

And mine hasn't seen winter since then either.

I dunno what I am going to do, I NEED a welder. I can use screws, silicone, paint and undercoating for the center hump, but for the two holes, I plain need a MIG welder...too bad most of my funds are going towards this wedding, and other crap.

Like if you have a Harbor Freight you can pick up a cheap might for under $100. I've used the crap out of mine and welded rockers/cab corners in a truck.

That's what I was talking about using the tiger hair for, the holes. Blast them, use some etching primer or rust killing stuff, then put the hair over that. It will last longer then the rest of the floor. I had a 1 foot hole I filled with that stuff once. I put some 1/4 inch screen over the hole, then coated it. Never had a problem again after that.
The other option is load the cab on a trailer and take it someplace to weld it.
Or borrow a 110 Mig.
How about renting one? Is there a Sunbelt, Taylor Rental, or United Rentals near there?

There is everything near by, HF is where I got my media blaster from, very impressed for a cheap piece of chinese junk. I looked at some of the welders, but I hate spending money on stuff twice, been looking at used units, but they a$$ hats selling them want almost new prices...

Might do the fiberglass trick...dunno. I f'n hate rust.

I bought one so I could have a cheap welder to drag around to work and the folks. Just used it Sunday to repair a part on a mower. I haven't made up my mind what I want for a big one either.

I have always been a bit partial towards Lincoln's, my father used them (he was a mobile welder in the oil fields of Oklahoma) and we use them here at work. I would like a nice unit, but it will have to wait. Might just have to get an el-cheapo just to stich in some plating around the holes and the center hump...sh!t.
