82 w350 gasser project.

Postby 12valve » Sun Sep 08, 2013 9:33 am

i found this jewel on local craigslist, fella was asking $3500 for it. went and looked at it without much expectation. much to my supprise the body was straight(albeit a hodgepodge of 82-92 body parts). i bought it as a 1982 w350 4spd 340 truck,2000's alloy ford 17in wheels with good tires and an 89 non i/c 12v,727 with adapters and a 205 transfer. the 12v and afore mentioned goodies were not mentioned in the ad. end of the deal walked away with the whole package for $2250 plus another hood, grill, fuel tank, fenders and dana 80 that i plan on turning in to a dana 80 front. only reason i even looked at the truck was because it had a running 340 in it and i wanted a spare 340 long block as a spare for my dart. sold the 4spd,transfer with pro drive winch and the gas fuel tank for $1,000. i got the 12v in and the 727 is apart on my bench waiting till i get time to put all the goodies in it. all the internals are from PATC trans. the best of the best they had. bands, clutches, springs, the whole deal. trans-action manual valve body and hurst quarter stick. few pics if i can get them to post.

Not a bad looking truck. Those look like new dodge wheels.

They're 6.0L-era wheels.

Truck looks good. No rust 8)

Guessing its running adapters to change bolt pattern since the Ford wheels are metric.

dazed, ive not had the truck on the lift yet. after i get my trans finished and get the 4in exhaust mocked up im gonna throw it together for inspection then the whole truck is coming back apart to get the frame media blazed and coated, underside of the bed and cab coated and the cab floor coated inside. stock mirrors are comming off,ive got the mounts made up for 99+ tow mirrors,80s era cab lights for it then the body is getting sanded and painted. i may catch a bunch of shcit for it but its gonna be 2 tone cat yellow and black. simply because i have 3 gallons of cat yellow left from a rest i did on a 60s cable blade dozer. this is a straight up budget build. i had a $7500 budget going in and so far im in to it for $4750 including the cost of the truck.

I'm betting that those "Ford" wheels are not that, they look awfully close to the wheels Dodge used when they re-introduced the Power Wagon. They fetch a pretty penny if you were to sell them ;)

I just scored some 1/4 used 315/70 17's (35's) for less than $500, keep your eyes out on craigslist and the like, good deals on big tires are out there...

i generly do troll craigslist and the local nickle classifieds. id like to get a set of spacers and set them out about an inch so they arent tucked under the truck so far.
