Cummins Excursion

Postby dazedandconfused » Sun Nov 03, 2013 2:53 pm

So as those of you on Facebook know I picked up an 83 Ford F250, 4x4, ext. Cab roller yesterday. I plan to pull the Cummins out of the Duck for it.

Does it have a real axle in it? Or that twin I beam crap?
I kinda like the Duck the way it is, it has it's own character. It's a sleeper with a Cummins in it. 8)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Its twin I beam right now Pete. The Duck is a pain in the ass to drive on anything but dry pavement. It may get another Cummins I'm not sure yet. I think it would be way more fun with a turbo small block and T56

I can sympathize with the dry pavement thing. ;)

How about a 4BT? That's a turbo small block.

A t56 psssh!

You sure are setting out to PUss right out on the duck, why not just find a clapped out old 94 to 98 dodge. Those tend to bust up on the inside like mad.....surely there's a fence row rescue around you somewhere. :)
I hate the idea of your duck being cannibalized :(

I like petes idea ;)

Clapped out, junk rot box Cummins trucks are going for $5000 up to $8000 around here. The truck you got your little truvks engine from would have brought $5000 plus up here the way it sat. I need more of a work/family truck right now and I'm not exactly swimming in money so I have to build what I can. The Duck may end up with another Cummins but will be a while.

I understand Andy,I'm thinking about my dodge here lately......ain't a good thought for it here lately. I sure would like 4 full doors on one cab.
On a side note, how far would you drive for a parts candidate :)

There are a couple companies making adapter plates for different transmissions out there. I haven't been on 4bt in a while but they were listed there. Probably could pick both engines up for a couple hundred bucks.

I think you would have to bolt them together just to get stock Cummins horsepower.

There are a few of them making big power. Anyway dad called today from the junkyard telling me he found some good doors. I think he is a little excited lol or could be that I told him I'm taking his doors off his.
