Well I run hot shot with my 97 Ford F350 7.3 5 speed. You can see all of my mod's in my signature. I've been a Cummins guy for a long time, but when I got started in this job I needed a 1 ton dually for a good price. I managed to pick this truck up from a buddy who didn't know what was wrong with it (needed an IDM) for $3,000. $100 IDM & a $60 starter rebuild later I had a 200,700 mile power stroke I needed to whip into shape for road running. I dumped another $3,500 in the mod's in my sig along with ball joints, tires, tags, insurance, hauling supplies. So far I've put almost 50,000 miles on it since last September, and it has done extremely well. Never left me stranded but I've had a few small repairs along the way. I just hate leaving out for 600-800 miles one way away from home with so many electronics on the engine so I started looking for a 12 Valve here and there. Luckily this 93 bus motor popped up on Craigslist last week for and I snagged it up for $400 because it had been disassembled and sitting out in the weather. I got a late start this afternoon but I got the rods, rod caps, and main caps all blasted tonight. I'm hoping to get the rest of the it done tomorrow so I can send it out the machine shop and see just what I'm working with. This isn't going to be a quick swap, but for now a rebuild on a budget thread and eventually a conversion entirely. At this point I'm kinda undecided on a NV4500 or a 47RH.... my ZF5 is already scratching in 2nd and I'm not spending $600 to rebuild it on top of a $700 adapter. I think I could almost build 47RH that would hold for that... maybe a little more if count a nice trans cooler. lol
The night I picked it up...
Getting ready to go to town....
Rough looking stock bus motor pistons... 3 had cracked around the cir clips. I'm planning on running small bowl pistons anyways
180HP rated VE pump?
Rods cleaned up before getting a thorough coating of WD40.
