It's been so cold here the last 3 weeks that after doing road calls all day I don't want to work in the garage. I feel your pain.

Weather was terrible this weekend again. BBOooooo.

Has anyone used these uppper control arms? These are giving me a headache trying to press out the bushings and unthread the ball joint. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Front-Right-Upper-Control-Arm-w-o-Bj-Dodge-D100-D200-D300-B300-B400/161476821010?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28772%26meid%3Dc3920395f05b46bc86c2a76c352b7fda%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D130709020860

I also couldn't get the lower control arm rods(brace thingys) off so they had to get cut off. :(

Anyone have any spares?

Ok, so if I buy those arms and the balljoints and bushings they should work? Whats the deal about the 3 or 4000lb axle??

All the diesels are 4000 pound front axles.

Finally I get a short window of dry weather this weekend that is acceptable for painting and sand blasting so I got after it. Took 3600lbs of #4 blast sand to get it all down to white steel. Found some more cracks on the front suspension coil bucket too. Then I sprayed it with Dupli-Color primer for bare steel. Actually was VERY impressed with the primer. It's a high build primer that is sandable and helps rust prevention. Sprayed really well, it's just not UV stable so it needs a regular type primer sprayed over it. It dryed very fast and hard. I couldn't even scrap it off after 30-45 minutes.

Got the frame painted and started hanging front suspension parts. Ordered a bunch of the wrong parts from RockAuto. I was past my 30 day return window but since I had a big order history with them and not many returns they agreed to take them back on store credit which I was very happy about.

The upper control arms that I ordered off ebay looked great and all except the right side had a thread in ball joint and the left side was a press in ball joint. The ball joint stud seemed a little different on each one also. I went ahead and mocked them up though and they seem like they will work although I'm not thrilled about having two different styles on it. The thread in one may get changed out on a later date. The rest of the suspension parts are powdercoated.

I still need the front rod things that go from the crossmember to the lower control arms!!

Also, I'm having trouble finding the lower control arms bushings online anywhere. I'm going to check the parts stores in town. Seems like the 4,000lb axle stuff it getting scarce.

Both uppers should be screw in for the 4000 pound axle. The lower ball joint bushing should be Moog K7065

Thx for the part number there. i ordered the complete "assembled" uppers arms off ebay. They said they would fit 4,000lb axle. The press in side might get changed out later then.

While that is the set I ordered, yours look different than mine. Mine have bracing welded to the upper balljoint threaded section.

well, the one of the left is a press in BJ, the one of the right is thread in, but it looks stock. No additional bracing on it. I guess if they junk out I'll order another set or something, IDK. Not may options left or available for these 1st gens. I may end up having to fabricate my own upper arm if these don't work out.

Well, got the front suspension all done and brakes on and sitting on the front tires.

Image

Then I set the engine and transmission down in it. Getting the transmission crossmember sand blasted along with the leaf springs today.

Image

Next step is to get transmission bolted up and rear axle buttoned up and sitting down on it and then I will set cab back down on it.

I STILL NEED THOSE FRONT RODS THAT GO FROM FRONT CROSSMEMBER TO LOWER A-ARM IF ANYONE HAS ANY PLEASE!!??
