f-350 donor wheel suggestions

Postby jethro » Wed May 27, 2015 12:37 am

Has anyone used a plain steel wheel from a bigger truck on a f-350 srw (2004)
I would like something about 18 inches but to for a crazy wide mudder- just a narrower
commercial type tire- like something on a school bus- more or less

Wondering what wheels might be compatible on the lug pattern and offset......

Hoping for something in plain steel -maybe a junkyard find ?
Rather put the $$$$ in the tires instead of the wheels !!!!!!

Lug pattern is 8x170. Pretty much nothing other than Ford uses that. 99-04 has a different backspacing than 05+. 450/550+ trucks have 10 lug wheels.

In 2004, ford made an 18x8 aluminum wheel; they were an option on lariats, king ranches, and harley davidsons. That is the only plus sized factory option for the leaf spring trucks.
