 That's actually kinda cool!

Because it's not in my truck, then it would suck. ;)

First test run/break in run done. Nothing out of the ordinary to report.

Unrelated note, I made a scrap run this morning (used the work truck, no towing yet with the Ex) and someone had scrapped an 80's dodge crew cab :(

Bought a THD fuel pin back in May and finally got around to installing it.

Went to swap over the diaphragm bits and well fawk me. Seriously? This was with a 1/4" ratchet and happened just snugging the nut up. I sent THD an email and am waiting a reply. I'm sure they will make it right though, just a little frustrating. *edit* They replied to my email (on a saturday evening) and will be sending me a new one. Very happy with that and I expected nothing less from such a great company.

In other news, I found out how low I can run the fuel tank before it starts sucking air with the draw straw which is a little less than 1/8 tank remaining (about 4 gallons). I ran that tank for 720 miles and it was 40 gallons to refill = 18 mpg

Small check-in, everything is running great except a power steering leak and a pulley just started squeaking.

I drug this home yesterday from PA. Cruised nicely at 65-70. It actually cruises really nice at 75 because of the gearing/tire size (3.73's with 295/70-18s). I think 3.93 would be perfect, but they don't make that ratio for the sterling rear end :?

I hope to have mine finished in the next few months. It's been sitting for months without me touching it.

Truck is still plugging along. I only seem to drive it every other weekend though since I'm commuting for work again. She burns some oil and these cheap injectors are hazy. Been kind of thinking about finding a p-pump for it, but then I see what people want for the damn things

I have a power steering leak I need to fix. It is coming from the pump, so I either need to replace or reseal it.

This winter it was being bitchy about starting. The single battery was getting old and was undersized compared to the stock sized dodge battery. I picked up a pair of the oem Ford sized batteries and made a new battery tray (the air filter now sits where the passenger battery would be from the factory)

That looks nice, But I think it would start better if the 2nd battery was hooked up. ;)

Just stopping by. Starter crapped out a few weeks ago, finally got around to replacing it last weekend. F dodge/cummins for putting that one bolt between the block and the starter itself

Oh and I see photobucket nuked my pics. Awesome.

My 91.5 hasn't had the bolt between the starter and block for many many years. If I remember right, I lost that bolt and just left it until I could get to the store for another but that part hasn't happened yet. And the starter hasn't fallen off either so I quit worrying about it.

I'm so irritated with Photobucket. I pay to get my pics sharable for them only to screw up. I did finally get my excursion on the road. I want to build another one now

So just wanted to pop in and put a period on this thread. I sold the Excursion in June (last year, just posted in the wrong build thread). I had another buyer put a deposit on it way back in December but he just kept delaying (to be fair, he did want some work done on the truck prior to his picking it up, but then 3 months later he still never picked it up) and I eventually gave his money back. Relisted the Ex and had this guy commit to buy it within an hour and he picked it up the next day.

The last mod I did to this truck for the first guy was to swap out the electronic t-case for a manual one.

Image

The Ex was running just fine but he chose to tow it anyway

This old swept side was body swapped to a 99-ish 24v frame/drivetrain.

Image

The new ride is an '15 F150 with the 5.0. Definitely a chushy ride compared to the Excursion, just doesn't have the cool points though.
