Put about 20 miles running around town and everything seemed ok. So did what any reasonable person would do, loaded up the bike and headed off to a race 200 miles away

Happy to report no major issues. 2 minor ones are an oil leak/dribble and a vibration at 65-70 mph. I can live with that.

Also, with the v10, 400 miles would have had the low fuel light on and I probably should stop before I got home. Now with the cummins I'm still just a bit above half tank 8)

Oil leak was a split valve cover gasket. I replaced all 6 so hopefully it'll be good for a while. Oh and I can get the back valve cover off, so that's a plus

Also made a pressure tester and checked for boost leaks and found some small ones at all the boots. Cranked down on the t-bolt clamps and they stopped blowing bubbles at me.

Vibration is a tire going bad (belts separating)

It was a continental. The tires are all pretty low tread but I don't have the cash right now for a new set. Ended up finding a used tire in town and it turned out to be the exact same model tire with the same amount of tread as the damaged one :D

Picked up a universal Dorman overflow tank. If the tank was about 1" smaller in all dimensions it would have been PERFECT. As it is now its pretty tight in there so I'll have to keep an eye on it. It was only $8 btw.

Well I think I blew a headgasket or something equally as bad. Going down the highway and it started making this tapping/ticking noise. Noticed it was smoking then the temp gauge pegged out. Pulled off on an exit ramp and the lower hose blew off. After it finally cooled down to less than boiling I limped to a gas station at the top of the ramp. Got the hose back on and water in it but its missing and blowing smoke. Also looks to have blown out the tappet cover gasket and it is pouring out oil any time I start it. Have a truck and trailer in route to get me. Ugh.

Tearing down now. Found a turbo issue that explains the lack of performance I was experiencing. Apparently the wastegate flapper is staying open by about 1/8" at rest. Need to fire the guy who made the bracket for that...

Head is ready to come off. EXCEPT, I can't get the back 4 push rods out. Looks like I'm going to have to do like dodge did on the newer trucks and make access holes in the bottom of the cowl :/

That sucks, sorry to hear it! You're lucky it still ran, no way you could have pushed it up on that trailer!

I like the rear quarter panel. ;)

Cheater hole. Had to make another further back for the #6 push rods

And out. #6 piston is damp compared to the rest.

I will say this engine was very easy to work on and other than the back push rods everything came right apart. Only really bitchy part was the fact the head weighs 1000 lbs
