96 2500 guts in a 94 1500 dodge

Postby ellis93 » Wed Aug 18, 2010 6:37 am

96 2500 5.9 cummins 48re(built by me 3 years ago) 3.55 rear

94 1500 318 47rh 3.55 rear

Plan:I want to make a hot rod half ton
Question
Would the 1500 rear end hold up to the motor

Want to know what yall think about this. I picked up the 96 really cheap cause it had the back bed folded up by an 18 wheeler. I have not bought th 94 yet, but its in the works. The inside is about perfect with the outside havin a lot of faded paint.

If I had bought a 2nd gen reg. cab thats what I would have done with it.

correct me if im wrong but wouldnt it be easier to get a 2500 12v and just shorten the frame and put a short bed on it? i figure the 1500 frame wouldnt handle the torque along with the rear end and front end

There are a few guys on CompD pushing 700+ through their stock 1/2 ton rear end.

Well I'm debating on this with my halfton now. Frames aren't a whole lot different and it's much easier swaping an engine then cutting and welding on a frame.

This did not happen. As with any vehicle I own, except my dodge, they are for sale. I had a guy offer me almost double what I had in them and they were sold. Since this I've acquired a couple of P-pumped 12valves and one industrial ve pumped 12valve. I'm now looking for the bell, flywheel, wavering and starter to bolt up a 4L80e to go in the 82 1/2 chevy I have.
