Is flycutting the pistons necessary? I'll be running 4000rpms with a stock cam but may upgrade to a street/strip cam later...

In looking at flycutting pistons, I realized there is no definite answer. There may be a better place to ask this question but I'm breaking it down to this.

I will need to know how far a mahle piston protrudes above stock deck. Then account for the amount taken off the block for resurfacing. From there, I will get the head machined and decked, find what my valve recession is and then what headgasket I will use. Then figure the max lift cam i plan to ever use in the truck...

I heard I need at least .047 on a 12v engine between the valve and piston head. Is that at TDC on cylinder one with the valve closed or is that with the valve fully open (to the lift I plan to run) and the piston at TDC? I'm asking this because I see some heavily fly cut pistons around for street trucks.
