lift pump went out now

Postby TX1GEN » Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:48 am

airdogII or FASS??
right now i was thinking of the airdogII 165 that runs 10-13 psi, a buddy was talkin about using a second gen kit cause it runs 25-30 psi, is there any advantages from the 25-30psi or is just asking for bad news using that high of fuel pressure?

Unless you are gonna be using a 14mm h/r, there is absolutely no gain in using more than about 12 psi of fuel pressure. Personally I like Air dog (or raptor, same parent comp.) over Fass. But if you want to go electric, Airdog is the best. Have you thought about mechanical? Either way, let me know if/when you want to buy and I'll try and beat some pricing for you.

yaa im leaning towards airdog and for the 93 i didnt want to try and piece stuff together after buying a new kit, soo im going with A5SPBD340. I saw the piston lift pumps on thehungrydiesel, considered it but i like the electric/ high volume pump idea better.

A Walbro 392 provides adequate volume though it will need a regulator.

My brother and my cousin both have air dogs, and the motors in the lift pump go out about 1ce a year like clock work. I and one of my buddys has a raptor(made by air dog) and they have yet to fail on either of ours, going on a little over a year now.

I hadn't heard that the AD motors were going bad. I always heard it was the FASS motors that burned up once a year. If you have your heart set on an AD, I'd get the one that runs the 15psi or thereabouts. It will still supply plenty of fuel, but won't over pressurize your front seal.

The new Airdog 2 165 p/n A5SABD340 has an adjustable regulator on it (pre set at 10-13)

K.I.S.S. Go with RCCUMMINS mechanical LP pump kit. I run electric pumps on my race car and boat, think i will switch them over to mechanical aswell. Less headache for install, less noise, just as reliable if not more so.
