best performance air filter

Postby skilletky » Sun Nov 13, 2011 1:49 pm

what is the best air filter for air flow? i had a autozone special on there for a while, then decided to buy a high dollar amsoil filter that turned out to be worse that the specter filter. not even 5 months old and if i give it anything past half throttle it will suck down the filterminder and has a noticable affect on power.

I'm wondering the same thing Chris. I tried to find a stock filter and no one carries them and it's a special order that can take up to 2 weeks they said. I'd much rather run a different filter.

autozone has the k&n filters that fit the factory box i think. i got rid of the factory intake when i got the truck. i made my own intake and was running the specter filter for a while and figured a better one would help, but i cant seem to find any good numbers. dont want to spend another 75 dollars on a filter that cant even flow what the 30 dollars filter will. the wife is sitting next to me watching me type and is bugging the hell outta me to put a damn smily face because they are cute, so to keep her happy and quiet; :D  :) :( :o :x  8) :;-|: :?  :P       :?: :!: ;-) :| :yuck:  :@: :bom: :alien: :cheese:

S&B has filters in almost any dimension in wet and dry flow. I can talk to them about making one for the stock air box.

I just bought a dry AFE filter and prefilterto replace my year-old BHAF. My BHAF didnt have that many miles on it, since I had I down for twins and it stays pretty local anyways.

I don't have to feather the throttle nearly as much to keep smoke down, and the turbos are waaaaaay louder through it. It was $60, but I don't know how long it's gonna last. :?

Hopefully the prefilter will help out a lot.

I paid a lil over $100 for my massive afe and net. Plus having to cut pipe and fab it up. It works freaking amazing and sounds awsome! I have the asa modifieds intake with an afe filter also. If you want the one i have on my truck now let me know. Pics in photobucket

I'd say I've got $80 in the prefilter/filter combo, now that you mention it.

Next time I'm gonna get a 5" outlet and try to find one that's more BHAF-sized.
