Help! 14mm still holding case pressure

Postby motorwood » Mon Jul 02, 2012 1:52 pm

Ive been running a 14mm over a year now. I have a boost regulated dual fed fuel system (a1000 with 5/8ths line) never see the case pressure drop others post about. Once the check valve opens (about 100psi) on my return feed line my pressure holds and then climbs close to 150psi with boost and rpm. 14mm h/r's are supposed to be hard to keep fueled, mines not. Also haven't been able to get over 455 HP. I'm turned up just shy of runaway. Egt's max around 1700*. I appreciate some ideas from those who are making big power. Is the secret in the fulcrum lever?
'03 2500: utility body stock; '92 350 flatbed: maxed fuel, 354 spring, 6x.016's, 14mm H/R, 2.8plate, studs, springs, A1000 5/8 line, Super40 = 454hp 1080tq all fuel. Have added S3 66/74/.91, O-rings, home port job, Steedspeed t-4 manifold. Hp=437/857 :( 13mm P, 5x.025, he551+ht80 843hp 1thousand something trq. Broken 5th gear.

How much boost?

Check the pop pressure on the injectors?

Time it on a light?

how is your aux feed rigged? just like KTA's where it dosnt feed in untill a drop in pressure?

how much will an a1000 supply for pressure through a 5/8 line?

I didnt think an a1000 could even give 100psi

Yes, copied KTA's supply thru the return via a check valve. A1000 exceeds 100psi, probably not quite 150psi, that is coming from the vane pump. I suspect I'm just not able to keep the control collar far enough forward with increasing RPM.

You seem at least 100-150hp down somewhere, if I can make 487rwhp with a 62mm.

Have you talked to KTA about it yet? He's always been very helpful to me. Have you ever got the pump flowed?

I sent him a Pm, maybe he'll chime in at some point. Never been on a bench. Thought about giving Dan Schied a call. I imagine everyone is pretty busy with pull season.

I'm sure Dan isn't busy enough for new customers.....just say you know me, and he'll promptly hang up the phone :D

Just kidding, although I am sure he'd want your injectors too, to test everything from pump to nozzle to make sure it's all in spec.

I'd call Buddha. He's always been very helpful to me. He got my 12mm VE to 335cc. I don't have a big enough check book for anyone at Scheid to give me the time of day.

Those are some pretty big numbers for a 12mm! I'd like to see a dyno sheet on that combo.

Any way you can post them?

I think either you are flooding the turbo at too low of an RPM or the turbo isn't lighting. However, a dyno graph and/or vid of you on the dyno helps.
