Advice on my planned setup

Postby bighroder » Mon Sep 03, 2012 8:09 am

Ok guys I'm just looking for advice, I get to pick up my motor tommorow it's an 89 with 180 something on the clock my goal is 400 reliable hp

My plan is to run;
Compounds, stock over hx35 (might have to play with exhaust housings maybe switch the high pressure turbo, my friends running this setup tho he says 40 psi most the time)

Turn the pump, looking at deny t fuel pins possibly turn the fuel hat, and id like to do a gov spring mod but I'm not sure what one to go with? 366, 3800, 4000 I don't want to get to crazy this is gunna be my dd

Water to air intercooler (less piping to deal with this isn't going in a dodge)

Id also like to run a small water methanol kit just to keep egts inline

Most likely get some bigger injectors 5 x 16 5x18? What would go good with the mods listed above?
And should I add anything? Things to keep in mind?

Here is a tip.

If people run a turbo very well as a single (like the HX35), it is only good for the high pressure, top, or secondary turbo (whatever flavor you want to call it).

So, with that said, there are a few HT3B's for sale for around $500. Grab one of those and you will have the air you need for a cool 400hp.

If you get an aftermarket pin, you don't need to turn it.

I like my 4200. Touchy throttle and I have hit 4000 rpms while pulling.

While nice, W2A setups are not the easiest to setup.

Not really needed if you go compounds.

I would run 5x16's.

Also add to that list at least a set of 60lbs springs, if not, 110's.

I've never heard of 110 springs hopefully a set of 60s will be good

Try that first. Aftermarket pins are over $100. It made a BIG difference in my truck.

Keep in mind that if you want big RPMs, you're going to need an Air Dog, FASS, etc. to keep up.

I'm not a big fan of air to water coolers because you can drive home with a boost leak, but you'll have to pull over and deal with a coolant leak.

I actually have been thinking about buying an air to water cooler and plugging one side and charging it with co2 or no2 id just be worried about freeze up

Also the frozen boost one has it's own system you don't feed off engine coolant so if it leaked externally it wouldn't hurt anything

Get the 4200 with 60 or 110 valve springs
rotate pin to deep side... make sure you get full TRAVEL out of your stocker.. might have to do some afc foot grinding

Do they have something inbetween? I'd spend money where ever needed to make the motor reliable but 600s more then half of what I got the motor for? I hread 6.7s have 90 lbs springs do they swap over?
