Postby revemup15 » Sun Oct 28, 2012 6:12 pm

Lets try this again guys.... well here the history of my truck 89 w250 with following mods done

-fuel screw in till runaway and linkage on the 2nd mark (switched to ic linkage)
-star wheel all the way up as well as smoke screw
-stock pin going to be ground
-3200 rpm spring
-high idle and normal idle screw thrown away
-linkage ground so it doesnt interfere with inlet fuel line
-bango bolts in top of fuel filter drilled to 13/64
-upgraded to bigger h1c with 12cm housing for time being
-installing a 1st gen ic as we speak
-high volume low pressure pump with 18psi spring (pm rc cummins if your interested)
-stock ic injectors because when i did hg i threw on ic head with arps and 60lb valve springs
-have probably 200 miles on gutbag swap and going back to auto built 47rh that im gonna attemp to rebuild.... right now 550hp valair
-skipped a tooth and ran on stock timing marks for now

Plan is 500hp... on the cleap...i screwed myself loonnnggg story but didnt oring my head so twins is out of the picture and would like to stay with 12mm pump if possiable

Don't think that anyone has ever got 500 rwhp with a single turbo, 12mm pump, and no drugs.

JAyers made something like 501 with a 14mm pump and a 62/71/14.
KTA made 481 with a 12mm pump and a 62/71/14 as well. IIRC.

Good luck.

The 65mm turbine wheel IMO is a horrible wheel the 68 and 73.5 turbine wheels are where it's at again just my $0.02

I'm going to say this in the nicest and friendliest tone that I can. Making power on a single will not be cheap. If you want 500+ hp, build twins now. A single is expensive because our engines are tiny in diesel terms. Getting a compressor big enough for a turned up 359 ci engine with a turbine small enough for the exhaust gasses produced by a 359 ci engine is what makes a 62/65/14 ~$1400. HT3Bs are well under a grand and you can have a used rebuilt HX40 for about $5-600 or spend a few hundred more and get the S300/S400 combo.

Just because I don't care to make power doesn't mean that I don't know how to do so. I'm not trashing your thread, I'm simply encouraging you to spend your money once.

Or search CL. There's a K31 and a GT42 in Logansport

Nothing wrong with picking up a turbo to drive around on while you plan/save for your next step. I did that with my 62/65/12.

I also wouldn't recommend the 65 wheel either. I feel it's a bit tight once you start moving primary-sized air amounts through it. I've got an external 'gate on my setup so it's not quite as bad for it, but if you don't want the added hassle of it I would go wit a little bigger wheel.

My D-tech was right at $1k when I bought it off Jacob at Dieselautopower.com. Dunno what they cost now, but it's been a tough little bugger for the 4-ish years I've had it so far. I wouldn't mind picking up one of those 63/68's, but I don't feel like sending my Steed in to get a T4 flange put on it. Who knows how long it would take. =\

Thanks guys... yes i was leaning toward a 68.... yes i want twins but i screwed up not o-ringing my head... so i been driving it this week (got my head gasket replacement done.... have a few problems... 1st i have white smoke or steam coming out of my dip stick tube and oil fill which i know i didnt have blow by before i blew my hg... when i had it running before i put the rad back in the smoke came out of the upper rad hose...also white smoke out the exhuast until it get up to operating temp... so one day i checked for smoke out the oil fil and dip stick tube and there was none to be seen... so i was happy then all of a sudden it came back next day.... WTF! then next day i drove to work saw steam coming out my hood so i stopped real quick, popped hood and rad and over flow sounded like they were going to explode... when the boiling calmed down i popped the cap and white smoke everywhere! Also i was reading and saw a guy have same problem after a hg replacement but he had o-rings and somthing about not seated right (whiched i dont have o-rings... and also im in the middle of intercooling it so my turbo has not been hooked up since i did the hg replacement so it has never saw any boost yet.... thanks guys would like to hear yalls opinion i need the ol girl fixed

Probly didn't help honing the cylinders while the head was off.. WITH the pistons still in place!!  Might be easier looking for another engine like I mentioned before..

Was told by a engine builder to do that :? I didnt completely hone them.... just got the slight surface rust off in the cylinders that developed from the moisture outside

If your pressurizing the radiator you either blew the gasket again, or have a warped or cracked block and head. You could have damaged something honing it like that causing a ring to break and crack the block.
