Post numbers up and maybe we can get Richie to put them in the sticky thread.

I have some unknown paper filter with a 4" inlet that I bought for my p-pump truck in a pinch. It found its way onto the 1st gen now, and as far as I can tell its not limiting power a bit and filters great. Think it was around $18(?). Ill see if I can get a part number off it if anyone is interested.

Y'all won't think much of this.

I built my own BHAF by stacking two of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KNN-E-3681/

A blank aluminum end-plate, and the duct end of a regular BHAF. Used enameled copper wire to stitch the two filters together, and rubber contact adhesive with sheet-metal screws to attach the ends. Sorry no pics.

I picked up almost 4psig at WOT and gained a mile or so on the open highway per-gallon compared to running the standard BHAF.

If I stay off dusty roads, It shouldn't be a problem in that regard. And I can follow instructions about applying the oil.

Levi, still like this filter? i bought a BHAF, but apparently its garbage and I have been told i should get a quality filter. so thats what im going to do, that asa kit looks cool but a little pricey...

It hasn't treated me badly yet. It definitely lets the turbo scream, as it was way louder than even with the BHAF.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's almost completely plugged off with exhaust soot by now and it still hasn't collapsed into itself. It's tough to boot. 8)

Never had an issue with the BHAF (2790) on my 97 or 99. The K&N drop in I had on the 97 (very briefly), was VERY bad about letting dirt through it. Even with more oil and a lot of grease on the sealing edges. Want to put on on my '93.

Just swiss cheesed the leading edge of the stock air box for now. :P

I plumbed a new intake and went with an AEM synthetic dryflow filter (21-2259DK) with filter wrap. It's the same filter as the Brute HD system they sell for the 2nd gen. Flows great and makes nice turbo whistle! Filter was $65 and is washable (no oil). Cover was another $30. I've got an AFE stock replacement in another truck. I like the AEM best.
