7 degrees is a significant amount, I think.
Not sure that it's that many degrees of a difference at road speed, though.

Mark.

I thought the same thing too. That's why I made sure I put that it was at idle. But as rpm rises I'm pretty sure the gap would close up a little. Stomp checked it for me. He has mechanical skills far superior to I. I was cool to see the difference it made.

I have been told that in stock form, the injection pump can give upwards of 6 crank degrees of timing advance.

Also have been told that with the spacer it can give upwards of 10, that I'm not sure on.

Now, don't non i/c trucks have slightly less factory timing than i/c trucks?

It's the other way around. Non intercooled is 1.45 mm and intercooled is 1.25 mm.

Well according to that, i/c stock would be roughly 12 degrees, and non would be in the 14 range. correct????????

That's how I understand it, but have never put a light on it.

I know when Jason checked his he was at 9 once.....

I wonder if larger injectors and higher pop pressures is why some have advanced timing, yet not really?

I think so, but have never got to check it with a light. To the head with stockers rattles a lot. Not so much with 6x .016s. I run mine one tooth advanced and stock pump location.

This roughly where I run mine. I still have the ksb on a switch. But with it flipped on it's just too much. I'm also running the spacer. I know Bc847 was running +2 teeth, but i dont think my truck will take a step forward with that setup of timing. Thanks for the info in your post ( rccummins89 & Ahineman)

I have mine on a 3 position switch. Up is on, middle is off, down is on via a pressure switch set for 20 psi of boost.

Nice....I like that

I run a tooth advanced, the spacer, no ksb shims, and retarded about an 1/8". Runs smooth and good through the power band, except it does pick up a little rattle around the 2100-2300 mark. If I flip on the ksb, it's WAY WAY WAY too much timing.

Now that's a pretty slick setup. How well do your twins cool your 6x16s? And is your power screw turned all of the way in? Sorry to derail.

Pump is benched at 335 ccs. Max rpms 4400. Vallet off, empty, being rough on it = 1250 degrees max. Most I've towed so far is a little over 14k gross. With vallet switch on, 1000 degrees max. Most boost I've seen is 68 psi overall and 34+ out of the primary.

What's John charge (or charged) to go through a 12mm pump

It was a new pump from Bosch. Can't remember for sure without digging out the invoice, but comparable to Schied.
