Got to looking at the bumper mount bolts and noticed a couple of them were in a suspiciously good spot. Pulled all but those two, cut that bottom lip off the fender, and boom, works like a charm. I screwed a piece of of wood between the hinges to act as the hood and help spring the bottoms out more.
It's going to need some assist springs, that's for sure, this is one heavy pig. Even without the hood it's a bear to get it started up. The rear of the fenders never fall in the same spot, which is to be expected with no bracing at all, and when you pull on the top of the core support it pulls the fenders forward. Not a huge deal, but since I'm using the forward studs that hold the fender down it pulled them right into the threads on them and you couldn't get it to tilt up. If I go to each one and pull it off the stud before I tilt it I can get it to come up with only mild struggling.

Another note, that's not as far as it flips, that's just the balance point for it so I could get a pic. As it sits it will flip all the way over and lay flat on the floor in front of the truck. I'm waiting to see what a bumper and that little valance piece below the grill will do in terms of interference.
More thoughts and experimentation later.
