Also, my truck is raping the fuel gauge now. I'm talking about 1/4 tank in about 40 miles.

Gonna pull my AFC line and see how it runs/uses fuel, them look into some of my AFC options. This thing never drops below 5psi once moving so apparently my spring isn't one of those epic, silver ones I read about in RC's spring thread.

Steering will have to wait, T-dub left his pitman arm puller at work. I'll get it sometime this week.

I pulled and blocked off the AFC, the only way to get noticeable smoke was to put the pedal to the floor. Hooked up the factory bypass valve today and found I could get it fully opened just revving the truck in neutral. it holds blower boost down to about 6psi no matter what and it only comes up once the turbo starts spooling. Good thing for easing u the power loss while cruising, bad thing because now I can get some decent haze on a pull. Can't having that, so I'll be leaving the bypass closed until I find a better way to control it.

Quoted from CompD again, anything specific you guys want to see/know about, just ask I'll answer to the best of my extremely limited knowledge on the subject.

Here's some vids for everyone, the first is example of the behavior of the factory bypass when it's hooked to straight manifold boost. As you can see, it opens completely up in a neutral free rev. Gratuitous idle boost proof, and I even waited to shut the truck off at the end so you could see the gauge drop back to 0.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkMsXZ2aVMA

Second vid is with the bypass unhooked again. You can see that the turbo can actually start sucking the bottom out of the blower from a simple free rev, no way the factory 1 1/2" bypass can feed enough air for anything 67mm or bigger.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9y-bvt7sS4

In normal driving you can pull the blower outlet down to 0psi with just 10psi of manifold pressure. It's crazy just how much more air a turbo apparently uses than a blower, and even more crazy when you can get them spooled so much power in the RPM than they used to.

"Hey, man, I just want you to know how much I appreciate all the work you've been doing on me lately, so to prove it I'm going to roll out of the spot you've parked me in for 3 years, through two fence posts, and park myself in the everlasting wet spot down in the field where the tractor gets stuck every time."

Not a single scratch on it, can't even see a scuff where those posts hit the bumper. I'm having starter troubles as well now, it's not wanting to start again. Some kicking of the column used to solve it but it looks lie I'll finally have to buy an ignition switch... At least it gives me an excuse to pop the hood in public when I have to jump the starter terminals.

I wish, it would have been a lot more easy to explain to the old man why I was stealing his tractor.

A couple pics of the crossover steering so far. Lessons learned as of quitting tonight are that the 2wd pitman arms seem to have a smaller hole than the 4wd ones and if you're trying to get a rod end out of its hole that you just loosely stuck in by hand it won't come free until your fingers are between it and something sharp and solid. I'm down 3 digits so far.

Any questions, ask away. I'll fill in some info when I get home tonight. Looks like the motorcycle for me in the morning.

:edits:

Here's some kind of lock that was sitting inside the brass kingpin bushings. The springless kingpin caps I'm using have a big washer that sits on the plastic part of the bushings and it would interfere with the locks so I pulled them out. I keep my truck pretty well greased and it seems to take about 800lb/ft of torque to break the brass parts loose so I'm going to pull them out. I'll keep them around just in case, but I doubt they're really necessary.

4wd Borgenson shaft setup with a 2wd steering location. Ain't gonna work. :(

This is the weld-in bugs they send you with the kit. No crap here, this whole deal is really nicely done. I think the tube they sent weighs more than my entire tierod and it's 1/2the length.

Eric you'd have to become a complete douche bag that he's reasonably sure will take his money and never give it back, then he will give you money and a turbo ;)

Heh, how about a 2wd borgenson shaft, RC, you have access to such a creature? As you can see in the 6th picture down my 4x4 one ain't gonna make it anymore. :(

I took the steering box and shaft off Tyler's old 2wd but he welded up the slider piece that connects the shaft to the splines on the box. It seems to work, but incredible unsafe may be a bit of an understatement.
