Are you still going to convert the RC or say screw it and just mess with the white truck?

(serious question here, not just busting your balls)

Still playing with the Dodge I guess, I've got a fully done frame just waiting for the swap, just don't want to guy the Dodge. Plus dad gets all mopey when I talk about it, he bought that truck new and doesn't want to see it disappear.

I'm keeping my ear down, I've got a 727 and 205 sitting in a building, Even if I found a bare 4 or 6bt I'd have enough to put something together.

I'd hate to see the old white truck die. Shoot, you could probably get a core from Vannest if you had to. Not my first choice, but if you're going to be going through it anyways...

Meh, I'll just keep messing with the turd. It's not like I'm short on crap to do on it.

I've still got a full weatherstripping kit to put on it.

Little video of the bypass I managed to throw together today, seems to work ok. It doesn't seal perfectly, but if I patch up all my other intake leaks I should still be able to keep my 2psi at idle.

Soooooo, did some painting:

And some tooth-jumping. I think that cam retainer may be a bit thick.

The cam isn't walking, I checked.
I left the pump against the head, it sounds rattly on free-rev but unless it drives bad I don't feel like moving it.

Gonna grab some food while it all dries, then it'll be final assembly when I get back. :D

I've also got a lead on a 1/2ton truck with a swapped cummins and a blown tranny. May find it's way into an RC if the price is right.

I hope it works well. So you just plumbed its own filter for the super and its own for the bypass?

Yeah, the supercharger filter is still the big one, it just lays up on the fender now. The turbo is going to pull from the smaller cone filter, it'll be down where the blower filter used to sit.

I'll probably buy another cone filter TBH, that big one is just too much to put anywhere decent. Even shoved all the way forward and over, it's still touching the fender, the blower, and the smaller filter under it.

TIME!!!

It's rainy and storming here, and I broke one of my field coil connectors as I was putting it together, so no real update to the performance. I will say the top end on this thing is retarded now. I did a 4th gear pull on the way home and it's isn't never stopped pulling. I mean put me back in the seat like a 2nd gear pull, then just kept me there until I knew it was going way too fast for it to be dry, let alone wet.

It takes off well in 1st and second, but I need to work on a better way to control the TB. It stays open too much and that turbo is a bitch to spool with this bumped timing. I'm talking 3 full seconds from ~50 in 4th.

Sounds good. Have you looked into different waste gates or springs?

The actuator in using now run about $50 a pop and I can't find them in any other pressures, so I figure it'll stay. I though about an adjustable spring-gate style thing too, but the distance and extreme arc it travels in would make that almost impossible.

I think I'll just drill a series of holes along the spine of the linkage and try some different return springs to see if I can get it where I want it. I feel like it needs some help reclosing anyways, so a return spring won't hurt anything.

If it comes down to it I'll start messing with regulators and valves/switches, but I don't think I'll need to.

She's running ice cold now too, cruising EGTs are ~500*, if not lower, and the piping and turbo housing are now cool enough to lay your hand on after a trip to work.

Idle boost is down to 1psi, but it ramps up to 5psi with minimal RPMs.
