I do not know where you get the idea that I should prove anything to you.

For all I care, you can go ahead and think I'm a liar who is so pathetic that I lie about things like $150 heads and $100 lift pumps. I don't mind if you let your arrogance be stoked on the belief that you're right.

Here's the head I won on eBay. Link'll probably only be good for a few more days. #140167271536

And here's my piston lift pump.

How about we put the kids to bed and talk about some real head options??

What readily available inconel or stainless steel valve slightly bigger in size is being used in some performance cylinder head builds?? I've heard some big block chevy valve. I don't know any specs on our valves let alone gasser valves. Machine work is necessary, I got that covered. The valve guide will need to be machined, along with a few other things. KTA care to enlighten us as always??? Oh and for those who say bigger valves can't be done with a stock bore block don't know all the facts.

early bbc stuff was 2.190/1.880

common early mopar valve sizes were 2.080/1.740 for the 383/440 motors

and 2.250/1.940 for the hemi

stock chrysler stem size for both of those motors was .375"

maybe someone with a loose cummins head can measure the valves for you?

but just cuz you can fit a larger valve into a flat head motor does not mean it will flow more air

i was looking at the way the factory has the valves sunk in the head for valve to piston clearance (instead of machining valve reliefs in the piston) and i believe there is flow to be had by just unshrouding the stock size valves. this would also lower compression which will help us make more power by allowing higher boost numbers. bet it would do wonders for effeciency too (better mileage*)

Jetpilot over on DTR was trying to get enough people interested in a set of valves to make a run, I think he needed at least 40 sets to make it worth while. Stock sizes, 45* angles and stellite valve seat faces.

I have a loose head at home, but the only measurement I know off the top of my head is the stem size, which is 8mm.

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

For what it is worth, I talked to Josh at Diesel performance solutions, about the bigger valves, he said that from a financial standpoint it was not really worth the money for bigger valves, he said that they have done it and seen little improvement, what he did say about the valves was the Inconel valves would take alot more EGT.

By the way, Bill why would you want to install "silly gasser" valves in your engine? Seems to me I remember a "silly gasser Water intercooler" wasn't good enough for you?

I got a whole set of used stock valves I'll get measured this weekend and report back. I've got a good machinist if I can just find out what 'readily' available valve is being used (which I know is from a 'silly gasser' , just wasn't listening when I was told), I've got a head to try out for R&D.

Fwiw my head has stock sized valves with a five angle grind at 45deg. The intake port is the worst restriction in the head, and big valves will help low level flow but loose velocity. We need velocity to make swirl in the piston chamber to help burn the fuel. Big valves are for bigger rpm motors than the ve can do.
