Head studs installed and engine laying in the garage floor. I did what any real engine builder does and tested the head gasket's sealing ability by clamping the heater control vacuum hose in it.

Got that fixed and had to machine .060" out of the valve covers, after the webbing was gone, to clear the nuts on the studs. I'm kind of surprised by this since my studs aren't even sticking out of the nuts. I'm going to guess it's because I've got o-rings, though they stick out a maximum of .010", so I'm not sure where the other .050" came from.

Whatever, they're in, on, tight, and the valve covers are sitting right. 8)

Nope, I'm not waiting on anything now. Once I cover all the holes we'll spray it and hopefully have it back in by this weekend.

Once it's in I'll be ordering fittings and a regulator for my fuel supply, but until then I'll have plenty to do.

Be careful there. Most bolts have the initial starting thread tapered. With that, so as to ensure full thread engagement, you should have at least one FULL thread exposed out the top of the nut. You might consider backing out the studs a turn or two.

Dunno about the ARPs. I run A1s. Either way, the end result should be the same.

Thanks, man.

This is the part that kills me though. All I want is to get it together and drive it, but now I have to take my time to make sure I don't ruin any of the paint.

Reserve judgment until it's sitting in the truck, I may be able to pull it off. 8)
