There's no way I'm going to spend $3k on a stock drivetrain when I've got one sitting in the Dodge. If anything, I'll find a rusty truck and put the stuff back in the Dodge after I get some time with the RC.

The twins are going bye bye because they're just not needed. I plan on being able to jump in this thing and drive it across the country if I want to. I just don't need the complication of the twins. They've never cause me a real problem, besides never truly working right, but all that exhaust pipe under the hood and all the extra oil lines just aren't worth it for the wow factor. I was perfectly pleased with my 62, and if it's not enough I'll step up some on a single.

I dunno, Justin, Jesse said he wants them pretty bad. :P

I'm wondering if he'll have room since he's putting them in a Ford. It's an older one, but apparent;;y Fords ust have huge heater cores because I always hear of interference with them.

rgr that, Alex, thanks!

I don't mind losing the twins that much, since I never really used them. I don't race the thing, I just drive it. It's cool to say I have them, but I really don't need them.

You'll hate a big single, Justin, unless you get some airflow moving in that thing. :P

I think my truck ran better with the S362, but I'm not giving up just yet.

Yeah, my truck doesn't run any worse, like I said the twins just aren't something I need. Once I tightened up my drains, they never leaked any more oil or caused any more problems. I just don't want to have to think about them when I'm X00 miles from home.

GL with yours, Head, I know Hineman's are nasty when his truck is empty, so it's just something we're overlooking.

I was pretty impressed by the interior. There's a bad spot in the rear area on the passenger side, but it's otherwise pretty habitable.

Well, besides the carpet, that sthi is heinous. :yuck:

Thanks for the source!

I think the red interiors are so cool. You just don't see that anymore.

Just and FYI, guys!
I never mentioned this because I thought it was an anomaly, but when I swapped the Cummins into the DAMNCHARGER, the intercooled fan would JUST contact the fan shroud.
I blamed it on a collapsed top piece on the core support (from someone setting a loaded Cummins down on it) and shimmed the radiator up.
I now know this was erroneous, after looking at 2 or 3 other conversions.
I also thought that the extra "tilt" of the engine from front to rear was related to my possibly using the wrong transmission support, which was also erroneous.

Turns out that the engine crossmember on a 4WD R/C is oriented so that the engine sits @ 1, possibly as much as 2, inches taller than the diesel 3/4 or 1 ton pick-ups.
For it to sit "correctly", you'd need to modify the engine crossmember, or replace it with one from a diesel truck.

The non-intercooled radiator/shroud assembly clears "better", but that's due to the fan being a slightly smaller diameter.

Mark.

No kidding? Justin had a huh? of trouble with his IC'd fan being too high and his P-pump getting into the brake master cylinder. Between your post and the truck's Dana 60, I'm betting that was a gasser truck that was swapped over.

I'm running no shroud and electric fans, so I should be alright in that regard. One question since you're here, though. Since this is an 85 RC with the 727, will my transmission x-member line up or will it still be a hole back? I see people having to bump them back a hole, but they all seem to be going with OD transmissions.

Oh, and Head, this was the first RC I had ever seen that didn't have a red interior. I thought they all did.
