i can get 23mpg out of my truck with pump on the verge of runaway and everything turned down :D one thing that always drops my milage a good bit is a dirty airfilter, so make sure to clean that monthly

control of right foot will get you the most. My dad has managed to squeeze better mpg's out of his 4x4 than I can out of my 2wd.

That said, I do like my 3:07s

Anyone tried synthetic in a 12v? I run it in my newer diesel....but that's a whole different ball game. I try to keep boost as low as possible for best mpg's

Something else to consider which I bet can achieve multiple MPG by itself. The giant parachute under the hood.

You 2wd guys will benefit the most.

If it's just me, I like to take my 92 on longer trips, instead of my VW. I just drove it 300 miles to NE, I found that as long as I keep a steady load on the engine, I can get some decent mileage out of it. I kept the speed about 65 (1900rpm) on the flats and "sling shot" the hills, accelerated down and kind of coasted up, keeping the boost at or below 5psi. Worked out pretty good, dove 305 miles and used 2/3rds of a tank.

I just rebuilt mine 2 months ago and have about 4500 miles on it. I drove from Oregon to Colorado and got 21.9 on the first tank and 22.6 on the second tank. I hit 75 MPH a few times but mostly kept it at 70. Before the rebuild I would get 18 to maybe 19, I think the cam and lower compression helps a lot, also I didn't advance the timing much and I think that helps with lower rpm and light load performance. I run Valvoline blue oil, not synthetic) and usually add Lucas to the fuel. I drive fairly conservative, but am not afraid to get on it if I have to. I do try to keep boost below 20 psi and egt under 900. I don't lug it either, if going less than 60 up a steep grade I'll pull it in 4th, egt and boost both drop, which means I'm using less fuel.
