and hitting a wall like that with a cummins over a dana 60 is going to grenade the front end anyway. the 60's are strong, but hang 4k pounds on one then start climbing rock walls with high tq and rpms and you'll find the limiting point very quickly i bet.
i'd do as the others say and use gearing to be your friend. put in a 3200 spring with some mild injectors and a decent turbo and you'll have plenty of power while not breaking the bank
