LP time!

Postby VanillaGorilla » Sun Oct 28, 2012 5:45 pm

So what kind of fuel pressure will a stock non-rebuilt VE handle without oozing fluid everywhere? Right now my plan is to throw in a Holley Black pump and let that run wide open. I thought I've seen it done before on here but really can't remember. What modifications should be made to the pickup in the tank? and is there a perferred type of fuel hose/line I should use? Or a specific diameter? Thanks guys, I apreciate the help! Really can't wait to prime it with a switch lol

Yea, but I already have a black pump from my car and I don't have time to wait for a part to show up. Nothing against the pump you mentioned but time and money say run the Holley

Thanks. Great write up. Unfortunately I won't have time to dig that far into it but the article definitely helped.

As far as fuel pressure to the ip. Unless you are going to be pushing tons of fuel where you are draining your case pressure. More inlet pressure isn't gonna gain you much or anything.

Personally I would run 12psi of inlet pressure just to ensure that you don't have a seal failure when it isn't an opportune time. Coming from someone who has ran 4psi all the way up to 22 psi. I didn't notice any gain after about 10 psi. The only gain I notice is more power up top with higher psi, simply because I wasn't pulling the psi down as low at full throttle. But with a regulator or electric pump you shouldn't have the issue.

P.S. I believe BC847 is at 12 psi of inlet pressure and he is making about 480rwhp with a non locking auto.

Just finished it tonight, truck runs a little bit better but still surging and pushing the converter at a stop light. Strange, Maybe an injector? ? You can hear a bit of a miss in the motor.
