Don't see why not,

I think Jason Sands ran some 5x18s for a while and had good luck with them.

More importantly, what do you use the truck for?

My 5x14's already let out an uncalled cloud if give even a little too much throttle in traffic. I was trying to get across the interstate today and grabbed 3rd a little too quickly. Left a plume across the entire thing.

I'm running jason's old 6x16s. They are just a smidge smaller. They make good power, but require you to run quite a bit of timing. They only made 18hp more than my ddp3s with the same timing. Added more timing and things came to life.

I would play with it. Everyone's taste is a little different. I would try adjusting it forwad little by little till you find where you like it. Every pump and truck combo is different. I went to the head with my 190s and ddp3s. Ran fine for me. With the ksb flipped and no spacer is when I made the most with the ddp3s.

Ok I was thinking about keeping it at the head and seeing how it runs then adding a timing device and see what happens

It will definitely give you alittle more timing. It helped me out. I know that it felt a little weird because it didn't rattle anymore down low. It had a nice smooth transition with the timing advance.
