Whos popped head gaskets, and how much boost and timing were you running? I've heard it's all over the place. Richie you still running 45 psi?

The lowest figure I've red was 40psi. After that head studs become recommended.

Just happend apon this,,,,, not by here very often. Yup, my 93 still does 45, my 89 is around 35, and my 92 runs about 23 to 25 psi wound up like a detroit :D So far, so good, all stock original unretorked head gaskets. Just a matter of time. I will say that I don't run them to hard other then the 92. It works, and I use it hard.

I've watched the youtube vids on the 93 and that truck sounds too good. Have you dynoed since you got the 62mm turbo for the 93? Any other updates on it?

I've blown head gaskets at 30 psi, and at 40 with head studs. But at 40 psi, that set up was making over 400 hp with an he351cw. Therefore peak cylinder pressures were through the roof.

Boost is only a very small part of the equation. We've set up a few builds that do over 60 psi and still run with stock head bolts.

Timing, injector size, boost pressure, load, head and block straightness, drive pressure. All have a roll in peak cylinder pressures.

I think I ran it with the 62,,,,, ponies stayed the same as I didn't do any other changes. Its been a few years since I have been on the rollers, but have not touched a wrench on any of the engines for years. Just drive them. 89 has almost no paint left, 92 is still a dented pile, 93 still looks respectable. No winter use for any of them. They get parked.

O ok, does the 93 still peg pyro with the 62 or did it help a lot over the GDS 60?

The 93 can still peg it. Can't add much power if towing with it. Once and a while I do put the trailer behind it, but not often. Still has the factory clutch at over 140k and the heat is to much. The 92 ended up with the gds upgraded H1C. It has a 16cm on the hot side. That truck has the tamper cap on the pump screw still, but I have ground the stock cone. With the ground fuel cone I can hit over 1300 pretty easy when pulling 15k.

RC I think I read a post one time saying roughly 35 psi was ok for an untouched head with either a 1/8" bump, or just the spacer. Is that about right?

Around 40 psi I usually start worrying about needing head studs in a ve truck....... as in I expect it to blow any second without. Unless it is a big single.......with large injectors........and pump duration shortened up..........and....... LOL.

Haha I get what you mean. I plan on a max of 33-35 psi with the spacer, until studs and new gsk.
