I have purchased all items needed to make this work, I have a coolingmist controller and a Delphi remote turbo actuator. I just need to get my engine back in the truck and start playing with writing the program. I also have a 62/68/.91 over an 80/88/1.32 as a back up plan in case the vgt dosen't work out.

I am trying a manual version of controlling the vanes, won't be nearly as precise as an electronic version, but I am hoping it should work ok, none the less.

My truck is under going lots of changes, so I won't actually having anything to report in the next while.

I am finishing my last semester of classes right now... I will get on it asap after planting is finished, oh yeah I am getting married this July and as soon as I get my engine back in the truck, I have an Oliver 1850 to finish restoring, then wheat harvest....

I want it done as bad as you guys, trust me. I have to find a wiring diagram for the delphi remote turbo controller, which I can't find.

I may try Blackskyracing's method from COMPD he seems to be having good success with a waste gate actuator.

someday...

I too have now picked up one of these 6.7 VG turbos, and had to bring this thread up to the top. To see if there is any more info developed or found ;) ,

the basic desine of these turbos is purly mechanical (aka simple) and i like it! unlike the Vary vane idea for the other two diesels

any one made one work?????

anyone make any progress with these turbo's ?

i've got one coming and have been tossing around a few idea's .

add a 4 to 5 inch section between the turbo and exhaust manifold , off of the extension , add a "t" , in the "t" put a external waste gate ( something similar to what is on the mercedes diesel , or 944 porsche ) .

if i understand how the turbo works , it looks like there is a sliding ring that as it moves back and forth , it exposes the exhaust wheel to more or less of the exhaust gas.

i was going to use the same style vacume pot that is used on many other waste gates to mov the ring back and forth , But also install a adustable set screw to limit how far the ring slides over , hopefully reducing potential turbo over speeding .....

i was also thinking about also installing a solinoid that while non engergised would act as a stop preventing overspeeding of the turbo , but when energergised would allow the ring to move over farther causing faster spool up ( ie drag racing , pulling .... ect... )

Unless something's changed since last time I called them, it's not for 12 valves.

Yea but it would controll it allot better and more accurate. I work on ford diesel every day and like the way the vgt turbos work and think they would be a good charger for the old 12s

Hay guy been gone for sever years now. was roaming around and seen this thread with posts from this year.

Is there really that little demand, desire, for a stand alone controlled VGT?

I would figure the market would be flooded with the 6.7 Holset VGT turbos. by now.

With all the twin and triple turbo set up out there that can be problematice. You would think the VG turbo would have filled a nitch in this area by now.

With the price of these set up, wouldn't it be worth, and Profitable, to make a black box the control this turbo.

I know nothing about the enginering of a controler for this turbo but figured some one would have by now.

No?
