There was talk over in this part of the country about a 9000lb class a few years back. It pretty much got shot down in flames, a few crew cab ford guys were crying they couldn't drop down to 8500. Turns out they were too lazy to empty the sh-- out of the truck, thus the class isn't needed. Can't believe it really exists somewhere.
9000lbs is an open class weight, since you're up against tractors, semis, and whatever else runs hard.
FWIW, I would need 2300lbs of iron on the puller to hit 9000lbs and that would put me 200lbs under the max load rating of my gooseneck trailer. That will also probably put you over the 4500lb weight rating of a dana 60, so be careful.
