Well, it was sold. I bought another. My keeping it stock madness has been cured.
Now for version 2.0
I've added tractor hydraulic trans fluid when I replaced my rear main seal. This tightened up the converter quite a bit. That and adjusting the bands inside the trans has brought life back to this transmission. I'm going to adjust the front band later after my nap.
I had 2 snapped lugs on a rear wheel. Pulled the drum and a couple things fell out that shouldn't have.
I gave it new hardware and adjuster set. Now no more grinding noise when I back up. Interestingly enough, someone has put in 3" shoes and bigger brake cylinder on that side.
Now my first bracket race series is tomorrow. This series has 8 races between now and November. Winner and runner up in points gets sent down to Indy to rep my local track. So $500 to win a race and $1500 to win national? Yes please.
One final thought: I miss my Getrag. Both I have owned were awesome trans. They both shifted fast and I may source another one for this truck. I have some slick shift mods and rail mods to see if these can shift faster. Couple that with a Valair street triple...
