That stuff is way to rough for my flea market special sand blaster, and if you use it on sheet metal you can eat a hole in it real fast. :yuck:

It's bottom ash from the plant where I work, and Harsco Mineral or whatever it is called processes it and bags it up. There are huge piles of it up there.

Frame looks nice. Do the rest of it that thorough and you'll have one nice RC.

We're neighbors with JD Taylor, I think he's decently high up around that place over there. I assume that's how we ended up with a pallet of the stuff. It'll definitely eat through thinner metal, I blasted all the teeth off of my cousin's Vice Grips when he left them laying around.

That frame looks good TC !

As for your equation - I could be wrong but it seems like that's a basic volume calc. Like you said total free air displacement with no restrictions. However everything in between your intake to the cylinder and even your exhaust back pressure detracts from that number. That's why people spend big bucks on intakes/exhausts and porting.

That said - all that also reduces the air your blower/turbo will be able to get in to the engine as well. Not necessarily in a equal amount however as pressurized air over comes some restrictions better then normally aspirated air - ie; reduced turbulence.

Clear as mud right ?

Thanks, man. :)

I also agree on the calculation, though I'm not sure how to calculate that reduced flow into an expected boost number either. I'd like to keep the blower right around the fattest part of its map, ~1.5pr,in the RPM range it's actually going to be used at.

I don't think I'm going to be able to do anything like that without just doing it and seeing what happens, so I'm getting a pulley made Monday and just going for it. Meh, that's how I've always done it anyways.

Semi-assembled, I've got 1.750" bushings in my forward mounts instead of the 1.5" the Chevy leaves run, so I threw Jungle a PM about it. He'll have it cleared up in no time I figure.

I just pulled the bushings and stuck the bolt through the eye for the pics.

I ran out of poly lube so I didn't get the other spring mounted in its rear shackle. Meh, pics are pics.

Levi, that looks like a pretty stiff spring pack in the rear for an RC. Keep putting parts on and in a few weeks it'll be driveable.

It's a 3/4 ton Suburban pack, that seems to be what everyone runs. From the looks of it it looks to sit a bit high, so I figure it'll get a few leaves pulled out of it.

I'm still determined to get this blower made in the Dodge, so it'll be a bit. I'll still mess with it as much as I can though.

My current conundrum is with this pulley. I've got a call into a conversion place that makes them for AC drives, I asked her about making it 6" or bigger as a blower drive and she said she'd talk to their machinist. This was a week and a half ago, I called last Tuesday and she said she hadn't gotten around to it yet.

So I sent a PM to Carl over on CompD about him getting another one for me but he said he doesn't have any measurements for the non-IC'd idler setup. I know their different from the IC'd 1stgen and the 24v ones he's used so far, I just don't know how.

Anyone know exactly? If it doesn't stick out from the engine any more/less then I don't see it being a problem, but I think my non-IC'd one is closer than the rest. :?

No fancy picture updates but I found a company possibly willing to make me a drive pulley off my fan idler. I even may have them talked into making it 7.5" in diameter which would really help me out. With that setup I would be at a 3:1 ratio with just the stock blower pulley. If I was running a 6" fan hub I'd be looking at ~$250 work to get a 2.5" pulley on the blower.

Here's hoping.

Still waiting on a call back from the pulley cats, I threw on that set of Chevy wheels I bought a while ago just to see what they're like.

Meh, I think I'm going to start the hunt for a set of 3rdgen wheels. I just can't find any aftermarket wheels that I actually like and wouldn't hate to clean. Also, photographic proof of how pathetic and dirty my truck is anymore. I got to working on the RC swap and have just completely stopped caring about how it looks.

Those wheels are an odd thing, sometimes I look at them and completely love them, like that pic, other times I see them and just hate them. The backspacing is hella bad on them, but it'll be the same on the 3rdgen wheels. I'm probably going to get different-sized spacers to try to get the rear tires out a little farther.

I can't hate on those Chevy wheels yet though, nothing bad has happened since they went on there. ...yet.
