Nothing got done last weekend. Wound up working the whole thing.
But, got the tranny crossmember in today. Was able to mod the original one, and added a piece of 3/8" plate for use with the 2nd gen trans mount. Made a plate to bolt to the tranny, for the top side of the mount. For some dumb reason, the face of the trans where the plate is, isn't flat. Angled a bit. Used the chop saw to make 2 cuts part way down the plate and used the torch to bend the ends a bit and rewelded it back together. Just did a guess on the angle, but came out right the first time.
Used one OEM hole (each side) in the frame for the cross member and drilled out the other 4. Used a small hyd floor jack on the butt end of my air drill to act as a drill press. With a bit of cutting oil a few times on each, the bit went through like butter!
No sore arms!
Need a driveshaft made up and check out the rear end. Do that, and basically, the powertrain/drivetrain will be to the point of making it mobile.
Front end still needs kingpin work, but the worst of it is getting over.
