Best bet in the long run in many cases is to try to find a wrecked or rusted out CTD donor truck so you have all the needed drivetrain parts in one factory package.
Otherwise a 47RH trans, good diesel spec'd torque converter, adapter plate if engine or trans doesn't already have one, upgrade axles, beefier u-joints, driveshaft to fit, proper motor mounts [MANY options there], upgrade springs to handle the considerable extra weight, clean out the fuel tank and run larger fuel and return lines to feed the diesel [can use current gasser ful line as your diesel return line], preferably an air/air I/C, exhaust system upgrade to 4", added gauges like pyro and boost. Pyrometer can be the difference between a happy diesel or a very quick diesel death so it's best to install one right from the first.
It's a pretty large project overall and with all the change$ required you can see that it might be best to buy a donor truck.
Diesel's lower rpm range calls for an o'drive trans to be happy at highway speeds.
