I just went out and started the Duck to see if it was gelled. Poor Ike can't catch a break.

Well, it runs. Went and found the old fuel heater and spud, the O-ring was crap so I dug around in the garage till I found a suitable replacement, Wix 51036 oil filter has a O-ring that works great. Cleared the fuel strainer out, and cleared the chunks of wax and whatever else was in the fuel filter best I could and filled it with Kerosene. Bled the injectors and it came to life. I let it run for a good 30 minutes to be sure it wasn't going to gel up on me again. Truth be told, I should have never removed the fuel heater. It's still -11 with a -37 wind chill, sounds like the high temp for the day. Blended fuel has to be the way to go, and since there is none to be had around here, I will just blend it myself when filling up at the co-op, the kerosene, off road #2, and regular #2 pumps are within six feet of each other. So far Power Service and Howes has not worked for me. My VW must have some sort of super heated fuel system if it sat for so long and just started right up without a hiccup...

I can't believe they don't have blended fuel down there....I think most of the pumps down home (Centerville Ia) Has blended.

Casey's, Kum&Go, BP say that they are blended, I don't know how much blending they do. I'm not big on getting fuel at the truck stops, especially Walcott (Iowa 80) as the prices are a bit higher, and Pilot and Flying J are a bit out of my way...but might have to start getting fuel there...

Just started my turd. Had it on the plug all night and the grids still came on. I was cussing but it cranked and fired fine. Then my fawking door latch decided to take the day off and the door wont stay shut. Been fighting it for a while. Not sure if its just froze up or broke for good.

Jeff mine did the same. Pop the cover off the side of the door and spray out with penetrating oil while working it with your finger.

I just popped it off and pushed the latch up with my finger. It took 10 seconds. I don't have anything at the house so I left it off.

I laughed a bit when I saw the unleaded gasoline only sticker on the dash. If you ever lent that truck to someone who wasn't smart there's a chance for some problems

The pile gelled up on me again about a mile out of town, the fuel strainer was plugging up. I had a 3/8" hose barb and put that in place of The strainer, rest of the 33 mile drive went without any hiccups. I'm betting it was the problem all along.

I deleted my fuel heater a while ago when it started leaking. Evidently shouldn't have done that. I had my brother jump me and it fired and ran. I watched it for 5 minutes, propped a chunk of wood on the pedal, and went to plow the driveway. It died. Yay.

Do you have a strainer before your lift pump? Thats what I ran into, amongst the missing fuel heater...
