So what happened to the other frame you were prepping Levi?

Eric: That's unfortunate man. Sounds like an unhappying chunk of change

My 4th gen seems to be doing alright. Was fooling around last night, and I was having massive traction issues. It was fun, but I don't have a lot of tread left on those back tires. I'll see how long I can run them then switch to 20's on either 33's or 35's

Nah, it's the later-model RC I picked up so I could use a normal wiring harness. It's a rusty bastard, way worse than I thought it was. :?

The interior is super clean on it though. I figure I'll hack the wiring connector out of the donor dash and weld it into the older body. The older body isn't as rusty, so I'll put the cummins in the grey one and fiddle with it while I piece together the blue one. I'll put the extra front driveshaft in to move it around, and have a rear one built out of one of the extra 2wd driveshafts I've got laying around.

I guess the interior of the later one will eventually find it's way into the blue one.

Meh. I had to back the AFC completely out to pull 55mph at 650. Honestly, I think my middlecooler is about to hit the trash. I love it, and want to keep loving it, but I found out a horrible secret a week or so ago. I was holding my RPMs at about 2k and spraying the intake with soapy water trying to find leaks, and I was literally watching the water boil off the side of the middlecooler. :?

If I dropped to idle, it would shoot right down to normal temps and I could put my hands right on it, but when I throttles it up again it took about 10 seconds before I couldn't lay my hand on it again. The water returning to the reservoir was cool, but the 'cooler was definitely not. Needless to say, I don't think it's very effective during a full throttle run at 40+ psi. That stationary revving barely got above 10psi.

I has a chat with Mr. Nixon over on CompD and I'm going to put 2ndgen ICs in both trucks. Since I have to hack up a core support to keep my '90 grills, it seems to be the easiest way. I'm heading up north a bit Saturday morning to pick up the two 'coolers. I'll keep my buddehs updated.

RCCUMMINS89 wrote:Spicer...... last year I was in a pinch and bought the "o'reilly high end ones". Since then I think I've replaced my rear joints, oh.......5 times probably (I don't remember exactly). That driveline and yokes are factory and in excellent shape. But, there comes a point where you just start over.

I've got a 2nd gen front shaft that will be going in.

I'm thinking I got a dry U joint or two. When I built my pile I used all spicer parts, buuuut....I used the non grease able ones as they are "stronger". Well, that's all fine and dandy, but they aren't worth the money when they dry out in a year. They were like $30 or so a piece, going to go back to the greaseable units.

It's in the custom fab section, I was just going to share the dimensions I used to make my drive pulley since I had such a hard time getting one made. Then it just spiraled into a full build thread

You're still going to have to trim or sand on the back side of the grille a bit. I didn't see any way around it.

The meaning was in general, the search function was ok but I was finding everthing I didn't want as well. Then had to sift thru biller posts to get to some of the meat of the conversation/topic.
I can tell you the rest of what I think but you would like it ;)

I was asking him about keeping the center of the IC'd core support and welding my early headlight buckets onto the sides of it. He suggested it would be easier to just hack up my older core support for a 2ndgen setup and trim the plastic to fit. I agreed when I thought on it for a while.

Welding core supports together would be nothing short of a nightmare.

.

Your not running a mechanical fan so you've room to move things around some, moving the rad toward the motor some wouldn't be too hard.....if there's an inch or two there wouldn't that elevate any grill issues?

Hell I put the rad, cooler, and shroud in that 82 Chevy,no way could this be harder.

How in the world does going to school for 6 hours equate to working 15+ hours in terms of fatigue. Seriously I'm more tired from school than I ever usually am working
