Let me run this by you all. My dyno graph is plotted against mph instead of rpm.

The background information: 235/85/R16 tires (99.59" circumference), .69 O/D, 3.07 rears, and I'm arbitrarily saying the converter is 89% efficient .

The equations: (miles/hour)*(5280ft/mile)*(12in/ft)*(1rev/99.59in)*(1hr/60min)= wheel rpm

(wheel rpm)*(rear end ratio)*(O/D ratio)/(converter efficiency)=engine rpms

At 60 mph that's about 1515 rpm and every 20 mph is another 500 rpm.

Reasonable? By that math, 120 mph is right at 3000 rpm.

Using this- http://www.wallaceracing.com/gear-speed.php and this- http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-calculator/,I get 3000 RPM is 133 MPH. 1500 is 66.2 mph. However, this calculator doesn't account for torque converter slip.

EDIT: This calculator is much easier to use and allows for TC slip. 3010 RPM is 120.35 MPH with the converter at 89%.

I made a calculator in Excel and entering 3010 RPM, I get 119.2 mph.

I think that's right, since a difference of 1.2 MPH between the calculators could easily be rounding.

I couldn't find a calculator like that the other day, so I busted out the Excel.

I always use the grim jeeper gear calculator. Type that in on google and it'll take you right there.

It's got lots of trans options already saved, and an option for converter slip.

Happy Easter everyone.

From the looks if it one of my HIDs burned out yesterday. Not super happy about it, but with the kit costing less than $50 it's not the end of the world. Also since I put in my grill quick release kit the bottom of the grill is a bit looser, and I decided I didn't want my light bar shaken that extra bit so I grabbed some scrap steel and welded up a mount so it's now inside my bumper

That's downright gross Ellis! And coming from me you know it has to be bad!

Ducati, I read someplace that most of the transformers or whatever they are for those HID lights are substandard crap. I was looking around for info on putting them in my truck and read they are cheap junk and most burn out in short order. It is the weak point of the whole system. There is a company here in the US that makes replacement ones that are better quality.
Don't ask where because I read all that stuff over a weekend several months ago and didn't save any of it. Sorry.

That picture reminds me when my boss used to have hogs. Once one made it into the finisher barn with nuts somehow. He was about 120 lbs and really wanted to keep his nuts, understandably. I grabbed one leg, my boss's son grabbed the other, and my boss ran the knife.

Slit, slit, pop, pop, cut, cut, spray, spray. Gosh I don't miss that

You're probably right Pete. I'll try switching the bulbs over and if the one that lights up changes it's the bulb. If not I'll need a new ballast. I'm sure glad at this point I'm not into HIDs for $200+ with these problems.

I often wonder why Ellis has these weird photos. Then I'm like whatever, and get on with my life

So the LMC Truck catalog for our trucks is out. They have the windshield wiper bushings, I'll be ordering those to see if it makes a difference.

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/dc/full.aspx?Page=69

The catalog is pretty damn decent though, there are quite a few hard to find parts available in there.
