So I'm trying to run trans lines on my M37, and having no luck finding 1/2" steel brake line, since in utilizing the super duty cooler and the heat exchanger off a '93 D250.

I don't wanna just run rubber trans hose, as it breaks down pretty fast, at least it did on an old truck I had. What other options are there? Thought about having hydro lines made, and adapting to the coolers and trans, but there's a couple hundred in just lines, let alone fittings

Ideas, comments,
Thanks guys

That's what I thought, just making sure I hadn't missed an option.

Side note was checking out some of that NiCopp brake line today, pretty cool stuff. Def gonna use next time I do anything with brake lines

Any of you guys that had 2nd gens ever have the output shaft of the steering gearbox get play in it? My FRT tried to do the death wobble a few weeks ago and I didn't see any play until I just happened to be looking past the pitman arm and thought I saw it move. Put a vernier on there for a rough idea and the shaft moves sideways about .050 or so. I'm thinking the death wobble has beat up that bearing some. Since it's not leaking I thought I'd try this, http://www.dodgeramsteeringstabilizer.com/ instead of a $600 gearbox. Any input?

I've installed to of those kits Pete. Guy here that operates a few one ton 4x4 dodge tow trucks has had me put them on and they solved his problems completely.

My fabricator makes them (not those exact ones, but his own style)... I've heard they are pretty sweet.

Pete I'd get a life time box from auto zone then put one of those braces on. I've sold and installed several. Best results are on a tight rebuilt box. Auto zone doesn't have the greatest stuff but when and if you need another one it's nice not to have to buy two. Warn control arm bushings are over looked a lot, rubber turns to cracked garbage and you can feel it in the wheel.

As far as tranny lines go, look into AN summit racing brand line. 1/2" line is 8AN. It isn't real cheap but you can make your own lines exactly how you want them. I've used their line several times on trannys and never had a problem. You don't need the expensive stainless rapped either, go with the cheaper blue line and sheath it where it could rub.

I've read many horror stories of Summit's AN fittings leaking right out of the box.

Pete- There isn't actually a bearing in the pitman shaft. Just a bushing. Replacing the box 1st, would be the best thing, then put the brace on. Would also suggest the 3rd gen track bar conversion. Will eliminate the tie rod end the factory 2nd gen one has. When the poly bushings later wear out, only need to replace the bushings and not the whole bar. http://sourceautomotive.biz/1994-2002do ... onkit.aspx

make sure the ball joints are tight, too. And see if the steering stabilizer is any good yet.

I second the Source Automotive kits. I put the whole three piece kit on my brothers '02, it really tightened things up...that turd would wander all over the road, and it had just 90k on it at the time. Spendy, but worth it, good quality. If I had a FRT, it would get that same stuff...

Bryan, I was planning on doing that exact thing. Problem is I've been looking for a stock track bar for 2 years and can't find one in the junk yards, and no way I'm spending $522 on a conversion kit! As for the gear box, I don't have the cash to buy a new one right now, I'm in the middle of doing the body on it and body supplies are spendy. $67 for a gallon of filler primer and $70 for the good bondo is a little more than I expected. It has been several years since I did any body work, so that may explain the sticker shock!

I know the steering stabilizer is bad, it's been leaking for quite a while. All the ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings and stuff are good, it was all done either before I bought it or I did it since. It has a Lukes Link on the trackbar and poly bushings on the other end. I'll check the control arm bushings, I never thought of those.

I've never had one of their AN fittings leak. But anything is possible I guess. If you were worried about their fittings you can switch the fittings to a different brand. I haven't used any of JEGS stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have their own line also. I personally like the ability to make it in my own shop along with being able to change it down the road if need be. With hydro hose you'd have to take it and have someone change it around for you.

Pete I'd put a box on it before I spent the money on the brace. You'd be relying a lot on the little bearing in the brace, plus when you do get a new box you'll get the pleasure of doing the same work twice. Also I'd get on compd or one of the other forums and post a wanted add, guys that lift them put the adjustable track bars on so you could probably pick one up cheap.
