I worked out there for a night, got to run the rotary rail car unloader. Very impressive. It has a fully automated positioning system, so after the first four cars are manually spotted, this machine will move 60 cars one at a time...no locomotives needed. It takes 2 minutes start to finish for the positioning and unloading of each car, the unloading part takes about twenty seconds. 100,000 plus lbs of coal getting tipped out of a rail car in just a few seconds is freakin awesome! I didn't get to play with the D10's or the D11 on the coal pile, but it was still neat out there none the less.
